Kill yourself before you work here.
Marketing (Ancien employé) –  Winnipeg, MB17 septembre 2019
Oh my god don't work here. This place is a joke....if you have to work with Management, they will intimidate and humiliate you constantly. When owner walks in the building, he screams at everyone and changes his mind constantly. Only people he likes are Sr. people who constantly kiss his rear with their golden handcuffs and tell him how great he is or think they will someday run this awful company.

Nobody knows what to do because rules are made up on the spot and changed in 10 minutes. Nobody wants to talk to the owner so everyone is always trying to get YOU to talk to him because he is so awful and makes you feel so terrible. There are brainwashing videos constantly playing in the public areas trying to convince you how wonderful he is. Senior management is impotent because the owner makes every decision and sets every priority and changes his mind always.

People running around like chickens with head cut off. Your life is never your own and you must be on call 24 x 7 x 365 and your vacation is a privilege the company honors you with. You'll work every PDC for 2 weeks straight, 12 hours a day and summits at Falcon Lake where you're forced to go.....doesn't matter what your salary is, cut it in half because that's what you're really making.

If this was ever a great company, it has long since stopped being that. Threats, intimidation, bullying, slave labor and hateful, poison culture. Bizarre email requirements and terrible ancient systems. You have to record your time whenever you leave your desk, even if its for 15 minutes and enter it in the system which
plus... is so old it barely works.  moins

Wonderful customers and no worries about theft.
Sales Associate/Key Holder (Employé actuel) –  Truro, NS30 août 2019
If you like clothing and helping people this is a wonderful company to work for. If you are hoping for more than minimum wage while holding a part time position, it's not going to happen. A generous staff discount on the clothes and a hit and miss opportunity for commission, is considered enough. Low wage aside, I still enjoyed the work and customers so It just depends on personal preference.

Beautiful clothes. Horrible people running the company
assistant manger (Ancien employé) –  London, ON26 août 2019
Whether or not you enjoy working for Nygard depends entirely what district you are in. I had the misfortune of working for some of the most hateful women ever encountered. Lying, cheating, thieving, two-faced, manipulative *itches. Staff are pitted against each other to sell more but heaven help you if you sell more than management. I loved the job itself, my loyal customers and the clothes are beautiful. However it's hard to work for people who say if you're not willing to lie for them then you're not worth keeping around.

Horrible place
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) –  Canada18 août 2019
Horrible place to work. Competitive unfriendly environment, manager is lazy, leaves early everyday, makes everyone do everything for her and takes credit for it. This company is very disorganized, very demanding even for a part time and the pay is minimal. They will make you work extra non paid hours. Head office has "barbecue day" every week while the staff at stores who are really working hard to make the sales are ignored. Don't expect a Christmas dinner for your store team!
Do yourself a favor and do not waste your precious time with this company that does not recognize the real hard working people.
Points positifs
Free clothes that you will never wear out of work
Points négatifs
Low pay, unrealistic expectations, unfriendly commission based environment

Probably the worst employer ever
top notch sales associate (Ancien employé) –  Canada4 août 2019
Do NOT even consider working here. Just save yourself the pain and anguish. Management is lacking, in fact negativity is the mantre. There's nothing good to say about Nygard, so just move on. They tout free clothing, but it's disgusting. Never want to ever wear it again. It doesn't last, it's wear it and throw it away clothing. The co-workers are disgruntled if you do your job and outsell them. Then they demand your sales to "balance" the economy. Good Lord, who ever designed commissioned sales with that in mind. Management demonstrates favoritism, so you will never ever win, even if you are right. Welfare is a better option.
Points positifs
Absolutely nothing was free
Points négatifs
Lazy associates demand your sales.

One thing you stay for at NYGÅRD are the people. Depending on your position, you may have some low work/life balance, however you control your own career.

I don't recommend working for this company
Manager (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton, AB8 juillet 2019
District manager will throw her managers under the bus, doesn't take accountability for herself. Tells you one thing, then freaks when you do as she tells you. Doesn't stand behind her management team. There is a reason there are always management positions open.

Dont do it!
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) –  Pickering, ON14 juin 2019
Management including district manager, very rude & unprofessional.. lack of respect from some of the co workers .. you can’t help certain “customers” because everyone claims them which is ridiculous because you have high targets but how are you expected too meet them some days , one coworker who wasn’t even a manager tried bossing me around a lot and always made me clean up after her .. in fact I cleaned up after everyone but if I was to leave 1 or 2 pairs of clothing on the counter I’d be in trouble , they complain if I only had light makeup on .. it’s definitely an older lady store maybe that’s why management was so cranky but when I was employed everyone there was old enough too my grandmother n had grown up married kids of there own save yourself the trouble don’t bother because there’s a lot of favouritism & drama behind close doors even if you try not too get involved with it they’ll find a way

There’s no Pros :Tbh unless your mid 30’s 40’s the close probably won’t be in style for you, definitely wasn’t for me I hated spending my pay on ugly clothes ,I just ended up giving too my mom who’s 50 n she loved them . 50% off that’s it ..
Points positifs

Key holder
Key Holder (Ancien employé) –  Greater Toronto Area, ON6 avril 2019
Competitive environment where managers collect all commission and clothes credits. Assistant manager and manager have full control over sales. Everything goes to them.
Lack of training, pressure to do way more than you are supposed to- all managers paperwork, doing stock daily, flipping falls, moving all merchandise...
I feel like I am just a number not a person.
The moment they do not need you or feel like you do not fit anymore- they get rid of you.
DO NOT WORK HERE.

Rollercoaster and scary clowns.
Fit model (Ancien employé) –  Winnipeg, MB2 avril 2019
The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. At. All. Very poor communication and zero organization. The entire place thrives on crisis management, and, if on the occasion something actually went well, it would certainly very soon fall apart. You could be fired or promoted at anytime depending on the mood of the room. So-called “meetings” would go on for hours and hours with no end resolve, and if a final decision was ever made; it would surely change direction the very next day. Chaos, pressure, gossip, hostility, employee turnover (usually employees taking legitimate stress leave) run rampant. If anything was ever questioned, the solid company motto is; “we’ve been doing it this way for over 50 years”. I witnessed a ton of skilled, quality people come and go. I suppose though, if you have very thick skin, can turn a blind eye to a LOT, don’t mind being criticized for minimal pay while having your time wasted, you may have a chance of survival.

Great Place to Work - With the boss

Depending on who your supervisor is.... life at Nygard can be a dream or a nightmare. Some policies are antiquated and employee turnover would drastically reduce with some changes.
Points positifs

Points négatifs
Micromanaging if you work in certain divisions.
