Very rewarding work with a great organization.
Middle management is mostly comprised of front-line staff who have advanced through promotion, so they respect and value staff contributions.
Excellent professional development opportunities and supports for staff with defined career goals. If you are a hard worker, management will do their best to support your professional development goals, especially where it can be shown to be a value add to the organization.
Pay seems competitive.
Average educational achievement of organization is on the low end (e.g. zero PhDs, few MPH's/MSc's), so the capacity and rigor of evidence-based planning and practice on some teams can feel a bit underwhelming. When highly educated staff do come in, they can face petty resistance from the old guard and, sadly, don't seem to stick around for long. More and more MPHs coming up though, thanks to a growing labor pool, even if their skills remain vastly under-utilized.
Overall, the organization feels like it punches above its weight in many areas. Great place to start a career.
Flexible and appreciative management, good pay, work-life balance, professional development
