You have to bid for your vacation, though they kept denying new hires the ability to do so. The window to request a vacation was "closed" in March shortly after we were hired. They said I could use this years vacation days next year when the bidding opened again. You earn roughly one vacation day per month worked.

Not hard at all because they cannot retain their staff. They are always hiring and desperate to not be in breach of their contract with the corporations they represent. They need to hit certain targets or else they lose money. If you can agree to attend work, that's all they need. People in chairs. It's a numbers game, not a really proficient workers game.
Healthier options in the vending machines/cafeteria and a second HR rep on site at least part time to alleviate some of the congestion due to head count/demand on the department in an attempt to resolve issues that cause employee stress just that much quicker.
