Great products, poor work environment

Nestlé used to be a great place to work, products are great. Over time the work environment has changed for the worse. Poor management, and does not put employees first. Promotes work /life balance, but they don't follow through.

Nestle hires mostly contract employees so they can pay less money and not offer benefits or paid time off. Only pay 4% vacation pay on paycheque. Any time off including if you are sick is unpaid. This does not fit in with their work/life balance. Very short staffed all the time and you are exhausted by the time you leave so your work/life balance doesnt exist. Every January they restructure and let go a lot of employees. It was stressful on staff. People would come to work after Xmas and clear their personal items from their desk so they would be prepared if it was them being let go. Upper management did not involve themselves with staff unless there was a problem. I think some Managers should get more training on being a supervisor and interaction with their team. Contract workers were treated differently than permanent staff. Was hard to book an unpaid day off as they felt it would disrupt the members of the team but it was ok for them to be sick and take vacation days with no thought of the Contract worker having to handle more than humanly possible.

Fun with communcation issues

The work place at Nestle Toll House was fun but the managment team had some communcation issues which resulted in many problems in the work envirnment and the customers were not always pleased when we had products advertised but did not have them. We had to figure out different ways to make the customer happy.

Nestle is an international company, I used to like a lot working there as I was a team leader to promote the product of Nescafe to all ceites of Syria, I was responsible of five vans team and leading all that crew and organize the work and plan to have the product reached to the target costumers,

We managed to distribute Nescafe ready drink to people for free within a plan of advertising the product in specific areas such as Universities, Colleges and crowded squares.

I improved my communication skills a lot through this title, and how to be calm in the pressure time working to manage and plan to get the best results of work.

Dealing with work of distributing a free drink to people in crowded areas is a big challenge, especially to be leading five different areas in the same time, reporting all the reactions of both costumers and promoters and the points of the areas, and to study and analysis the maps for any new area that would be a good target to promote wasn't easy but I was so satisfied that I could reach over than the targets of the company by giving more than I was asked as a part of a loyalty of the mission and the organization.
