Good Pace With Some Flaws
Worker (Ancien employé) – Toronto, ON – 16 juin 2019
Good place. Sometimes people are hired based on ancestry rather than capability and then cannot do the job well. There are many great workers, Native and non-Native. If 2 equal candidates apply for a job, one native and one not, the job should clearly go to the Native person. The other issue may be that sometimes kids are seen as Native first and then human or child etc. Their history and historical trauma are important and never to be forgotten, but for me kids first and then ancestry. It's a delicate balance protecting kids and honouring the Native community. Of all the Native agencies, I think NCFST has tried to see cases clearly but has on occasion caved to community pressure which may not have put the interests of a child first.
Great workers who really enjoy the job.
It's the politics.
