The management absolutely sucks, no appreciation for the work done, lack of empathy and understanding. The only positive part about working there were coworkers, fun and easy-going people to be around with.
Being a cashier at National Sports required being very outgoing and having a flexible working schedule, in addition being very adaplatble is a pro when working there because sometimes you can switch from department to department.
My experience at National Sports has been one of the best work experiences I've ever heard. The manager is great! Co-workers are a delight to work with. It's just a very nice, light-hearted place to work and learn about the different types of products.
- management was not understanding of extracurriculars - got mad if you called in sick even if you were sick - really hard to get time off - only got a break after working for 5 hours when people should deserve a break after 3 and paid
were not understanding of extracurriculars and miscommunication
Amazing place to work. I’ve worked here for 7 years part time throughout school and they’ve always been flexible and accommodating. Tight knit environment, great co-workers and great managers. Not a bad thing to say.
This job had successfully aided me in becoming more social. It is enjoyable to be able to share knowledge and experiences with coworkers as well as customers. The hardest part however, is learning how to handle very obscene and troublesome customers.
National Sports hires a lot of younger employees, mostly students. Unfortunately the management also carries themselves like high school students. By this I mean choosing favourites within the company and showing priority to those employees. They also don't give much direction in terms of what they are exactly looking for but expect employees to instinctively meet management's expectations. Other employees will likely complain to management about their colleagues rather than talk through a conflict with them. Management also avoids confrontation but will have a predisposed idea of some of their employees based on what others have mentioned about them. It's like high school. Very catty. There is also a lot of gossip and disgruntled employees. There is a lack of essential communication which can at times create chaos.
