Stay away.
Work from home CSR (Ancien employé) –  Work from Home1 juillet 2019
Extremely hard place to work! Management is horrible, they make you feel horrible and not worthy regularly for the smallest thing you didn't do correctly but never praise for the good work and promises of donations you get. There is no way to achieve bonuses, it is not our fault on the phones if a donor forgets to put out donation or if the driver is unable to pick up at the scheduled time.

You take much more abuse for the clients than they will tell you, they make you believe these people are life time donors and are warm and kind when you call. This is not true. You are sworn on and screamed at during every shift multiple times.

Hours are few in the slow times, have to pick up whatever extra you can to make ends meet. This means taking more hours during the holidays and busy seasons, and missing out on family time.

If you really need the job and money, its worth the try, but never stop sending resumes and trying to get away from here.

Don't do it.
Supervisor (Ancien employé) –  Saskatoon, SK15 mai 2019
This company is incredibly unwilling to train people properly. Using drivers, sometimes temps that cant even park a truck. The drivers are not held to be accountable for appearances or body care. They are rude and disrespectful to staff as well as donors.
Dont work there. Not a good company to work for. I wont even donate to them. I give to another fundraising location. They sell your items to value village and some is garbaged if not to the standards needed.

stay away from this place.it`s very toxic and dirty.first they posting part time position, averaging 20-30 hrs a week, but later you starting to work like a full time without benefits.no wonder why ndt keep posting driver positions.because people applying for part time positions, then see what is going on and leaving the company shortly after

Discrimination
Former outbound work from home (Ancien employé) –  Canada29 mars 2019
If you have a disability or health challenges they will not assist you to accommodate you whatsoever the immediate supervisors are strictly money, free Pick up & schedule driven with no room to care about staff health needs. They will quickly respond that the job isnt fit for you when your outbound call scores clearly show the contrary. They will cut your hours last minute in slow season at their own discretion but will not accommodate you for any health reasons if you request to reduce hours. Non caring money driven, no exageration this is the truth. Pay is too low for what you bring in return. Not enough short breaks to move around.

Driver (Ancien employé) –  Toronto, ON10 mars 2019
Overworked and underpaid. Be expecting to complete 120 pick ups a day of household items BY YOURSELF, that number is correct btw, 120 different address with no idea how much the donor has for you. You will be looked down upon by the community and people will often degrade you as a uneducated loser especially in higher class neighborhoods. Also I hope you're open to dealing with needles, mice and garbage in donation drop boxes. You will also be degraded by Value Village managers on a power trip daily. Complete clown act all around.

Unfortunate
Former employee (Ancien employé) –  Canada19 février 2019
Unfortunately a great opportunity to work for a great cause turned out to be nothing but working for a bunch of bullies. Bully culture, the likes I have never seen. Unfortunate because there is a lot of good people that go above and beyond their job description.

The problem with this job in grande prarie is thst it is a two person job. I am a hard worker but it is way two backbreaking for one person. That is the only reason i left. Great in every way other than that..

good job
driver (Ancien employé) –  Kelowna, BC28 décembre 2018
I think it is a good company to work for and you are part of a team doing good work for the community and Diabetes. There are a few things to consider about the job if you are interested and that is it is physically demanding and you need to be in good shape. The hours can be inconsistent and long but you are pretty much working on your own. I think it was a good company to work for and the management makes you feel important and part of the team.

One of the worst jobs I ever had
Driver/Labourer (Ancien employé) –  Hamilton, ON24 décembre 2018
No life work balance, they don’t care how long your on the road in a day or even what the weather is like or anything, no concern about the safty of there employee at all as long as you doin your drop, plane on getting in and out of your truck a minimum of 200 times a day also moving roughly 6 tons of product by hand twice a day... that’s why on the back of every truck it says they are hiring drivers And to call them, super micromanaged ...

Current Senior Management - disconnected from Reality
Management (Employé actuel) –  Canada23 décembre 2018
Current Senior Management TG has lost sight on pre-existing company culture. Continued disintegration of benefits. Senior Management has unrealistic expectations of salaried staff; based on 35 hour work week; but 70 hours an accurate weekly expectation (140 hours bi-weekly). N.TG wants productivity while playing on Yammer. Expensive dining on charity budget. Unequal compensation package. Employees working outside of Standard Operating Procedures are rewarded handsomely while those working within Policy are ignored. Incoming staff are frequently compensated more than staff currently on payroll. Inability to take annual vacation allotment in any one year. National Company focused on the culture and events related to Toronto; with little acknowledgement of the challenges facing outside of Greater Toronto Area. Departments within company do not communicate. N.TG Senior Management continues to fails to respond to communication requests of subordinates.. This is not a disgruntled employee, love the job, we are discussing the current reality in 2018 heading into 2019. 2018 has been a fiscal failure. Current N.TG management likely to do same in 2019. National Charity in Death Throes.

Former driver (Ancien employé) –  Niagara region1 octobre 2018
Expect to work 11-13 hours a day. I was hired for weekends only with a potential 1 day during the week of my choice. The second my schedule came out they completely disgregsrded my part time application and had me working FT hours which included zero benefits. Long days and filthy trucks. The box is understandable being dirty but the cabs were filthy as well. I was given zero trading on pre trip inspections. Lol. We wonder why trucks are breaking down and causing mishaps.

Horrible management, negative culture
Former employee (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB30 août 2018
Management was among some of the worst I've ever worked for. Trucks are disgusting inside. No accountability whatsoever from management. Your always cleaning up another co workers "mess" inside the truck as well as the rear of it No matter how much you get done, it's never enough.
Points positifs

over scheduled daily.
Donation Pickup Driver (Ancien employé) –  Coquitlam, BC22 avril 2018
A typical day included 50 to 120 pick ups a day (depending on experience) and either a morning or afternoon unload. When doing morning unloads the runs were set so you could never complete them within the scheduled work hours. The harder you work the more they expected you to do. The other drivers were great to get along with.
Points positifs
other drivers were good to work with
Points négatifs
always expect more that could be completed

Professional, Supportive
Customer Service Representative (Employé actuel) –  Hamilton, ON31 janvier 2018
I loved working here. I worked with a excellent team.

National Diabetes Trust is the main source of income for Diabetes Canada. The majority of funding comes from the retrieval and sale of used items.

This sounds like a simple task to those who are not privy to the massive amount of organization, communication and team work that is required to ensure it is successful.

I was very proud to be part of that team.

Good place to work
customer service agent (Ancien employé) –  work at home3 février 2015
This is a good place to work as it provides a good work/family balance. Toughest part is the magnitude of calls and dropped calls - clients dont like the down air time. On average 400 calls in an average 4 hour shift. Takes its toll on your voice.

Good for people who can work alone under pressue
Truck Driver (Ancien employé) –  Toronto22 janvier 2015
For persons who like to work without managers looking over their shoulders every minute of the day, this can be a great place to work. Management personnel will often grade performance on a criteria that has nothing to do with actual performance, but based on a statistical analysis that is skewed to reflect well on them, and hold little resemblance to actual results.
Points positifs
4 day work week, decent benifit package, union shop, lots of overtime

Driver Pick-Up (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB12 novembre 2014
Move up to 10000 lbs. a day pick up at a 100 donors houses in a day. You get to know the city very well
Management will tell you what to do, so don't worry about thinking to much.
Co-workers are very nice and will help you out when needed.
Not knowing what kind of work load you will have in a day can be very stressful.
Pulling in the yard at the end of the day is very enjoyable.
Points positifs
You are helping a good cause.
Points négatifs
Heavey work load.
