Management changed. Before it was a decent place to work. Now, seems like not only me but everyone is becoming miserable.
Management style is unprofessional and primeval - they don't care how you do things, they don't know your work schedule, tasks scope. As a specialist you have 3 or even 4 managers. None of them are communicating, meaning you get tons of tasks from various sources and everyone wants you to finish it NOW. Managers doing their job at a last minute but everything should be perfect till last penny. So you need to overwork yourself to find some immaterial amounts and on the same time you are pushed by unorganized manager to finish report because deadline is due in 10 min.
Environment is toxic – some managers have favorite employees who can do nothing and others have to work double and are not even appreciated at all.
No growth and promotions are given only to favorite ones. Salary increase is a joke
The office is old and needs renovation, air quality is so bad – your skin, mouth is dry as a desert. One corner is always freezing, the other is too hot.
Once and for all company have to understand that: “employees don’t quit their jobs, they quit their managers”.
nice work environment with the option to work from home
flexible hours, four weeks' vacations
great benefits include insurance, rrsp match, gym membership, tuition fee reimbursement
no overtime pay
high turnover rate
A lot of being de-skilled by doing nothing, just waiting. Training was great if you went head first into fund admin. If you had to wait training had very little value. Not a positive experience. Expectations for work hours are antiquated, do not allow for flexibility. People are interesting, some gems some not so shiny.
MUFG has a great culture , there is no hierarchy between levels of management , good benefits , however not a super fun place to work for no entertainment room and usually pretty quite and there are cubicles
Not the worst place, not the best. The office that I worked at in Waterloo no longer exists, they moved their office to Halifax. Therefore, no point in giving this mandatory review, could be a lot different working in a different city.
Archaic, disjointed and unprofessional are a few descriptors that quickly comes to mind. For a company that has such an extensive history and global presence, growth within the company has not yet taken it's first steps. Competition is all around and most would credit this to investing in aggressive technological growth, development labs, career development for the staff, incentivized 360 contribution/ cross knowledge sharing within the company and understanding their audience as these are unavoidable valued foundations. This company have rather sidelined the former and instead targets servicing to sophisticated clientele who continuously look for something to give them an edge by using decade old technology and untrained staff. It is, however, without a doubt, that there there are employees who are very adaptable, knowledgeable and understand true meaning of team work but few gets recognized for this if at all. Perhaps with a few more years and rethinking their methods, this company can flourish like the leaders in the market.
The company has merged multiple times with smaller organizations, causing a lot of dysfunction in procedures and management turn over. Overall this company is a better company to work for compare to other administrator in the market.
MUFG is a good place to work; however, you have to be prepared to work a lot of overtime. No overtime is compensated until 44 hours (a day over your salary per week).
Pay is not standardized throughout the company, and it is only paid once a month.
This is a great and Growing company to work for. It has great work life balance and competitive pay. The people are great and there are many opportunities to grow. The new Management and culture is really great as they look out for employees.
There was minimal advancement, and salaries/promotions happened once a year for everyone, so if you miss a year for a promotion, you most likely won't get one until next year.
Benefits were great however.
Salary structure sucks!!!!!! New hirings/journey's salary can be much hiring than senior!!! Management should feel shame about that! Used to be a good company before acquired by/from other fund admins.
Vacation time is good now, they changed since 2018. Total benefit fair; management and working culture really depend on groups, hopefully you are not in some groups makes people feels like suffering from work like a machine everyday.
