Better hope you're an accountant

- Firing without cause is a standard process, & the company will comb through your timesheets on leaving so they don't have to pay out overtime (or occasionally request that you pay them)
- Staff, particularly admin staff, are severely overworked & micromanaged in almost every business unit
- Wages are not at all competitive
- Training at first appears great but it quickly becomes obvious that it's not adequate
- Company "buys" their award for best employer each year by holding events & giving away free food in the direct buildup to the voting, then offers rewards to staff for positive reviews (by region, not individual). It's not cheating, but it is scummy
- Other staff tend to be great but the constant turnover has created environments of cliques & bullying
- Partners are typically rewarded for taking on way more work than their staff can complete, encouraging terrible behaviour
- Micro-managing is considered the norm

Huge workloads and unmanageable deadlines, extremely poor management and terrible professionalism, as in, least proffessional 'professionals' I have ever encountered. If you like getting ulcers and sexist bosses, MNP is the place for you! They preach work life balance, but there is none, and if you don't get 'in' with the main group of managers, you will never move in your career, and you will be held down. If you're a mother and you want to do non CPA schooling, you will be told it's pretty much impossible and won't be supported at all. Also, be careful who you cross there, they can make your lives pretty miserable in this small town if they don't like you...

STAY FAR AWAY! Toxic Environment, no growth, micro management!

I have never been treated so poorly. They portray such a "fun" image, but it is truly the most toxic environment I have ever been in.
If you are part of the administrative team, you are considered bottom of the pile, and they like to make you well aware that you are worthless to them. Overheard management and HR discussing they are looking for low maintenance, quiet employees, low key giggling at the fact that they are aware of the bullying and are just looking for people that wont go to management about it. They say things like "oh they are just co-ops", or "just an accountant". They are looking for individuals that will tolerate being treated like complete trash, and highly expect you to not speak up about it. If you decide to make a scene, they will let you go. You mean nothing if you are not a Partner or Manager.
A typical day here is enslaving yourself to pick up after overly entitled managers and partners that do not pick up after themselves. i.e - cleaning up their leftover food from sinks &rinsing out smelly dishes. They have no tolerance for slight irrelevant mistakes, they will make you feel bad for almost everything you do. Everything is your fault, even if you were doing exactly what you were told. Backstabbing, gossiping, bullies, nasty comments and no support from Human Capital.
What did I learn here? That you will never be good enough, even if you are over qualified.
Management is awkward and well under-qualified. Absolutely no care for employees, just there to look good. Management takes days to respond to inquiries. They micro-manage to a T. Everything
  plus... you do is questioned, they do not trust their employees. Manager will makes a scene when you make a mistake and draw attention to situations to make them look better.
Workplace culture? Bullies get promoted. They reward tattle-tale staff, everyone sucks up for brownie points, it is basically like High School all over again. Partners ask you to do silly simple tasks that they can do but are too lazy to do. HIERARCHY is all they care about!
Turnover here is insane.
They will lie and avoid things in the interview to lure you in and make them look better, but they do not live up to the image they portray.
If I could go back in time, I would not entertain any kind of interaction with MNP, I would have ran away!
All negative comments aside; they have okay benefits and 3 weeks vacation. OT hours are banked so you can take days off.
They do many "fun" things to sort of hide all the bull people go through. (But if you do not participate they will also degrade you for that).
There is nothing they can offer you to make working with them worth it!

Very Poor Management

Working with MNP for 3 months has been my worst experience in 17 years. 6-8employees terminated in that period for no reason. No clear expectations. Feels like a high school student judging a Phd graduate!

No respect, no say... just come in and work and Boss is always right even if they don’t make any sense! Raise your voice and you are out!

Good staff, inexperienced managers, underpaid and over worked

The staff along side you (from jr - sr accounting staff) are, for the most part, amazing people, but that’s where it ends. MNP has a toxic culture, culminating in a lack of communication from management, a lack of experience managing staff to produce high quality results and meet client deadlines, and by nature causing back stabbing and confusion for career progression. The partners are, for lack of better words, careless in their pursuit of deadlines, not staffing the right individuals on jobs, underutilizing good talent while over pressuring inexperienced staff to complete jobs outside of their realm of knowledge. Management does not communicate clear expectations of staff, leaving them unable to meet or exceed expectations and process in their career. Lastly, you are expected to work a billable 12-14 hours per day (busy season) and 8-10 hours outside of that, while making $10,000 - $13,000 less than other firms.

Interesting work and good learning opportunity, however they are unable to offer market salaries and constantly push you to collect more professional titles with little to no guarantee in increasing your salary. Some of the partners were better than others, but overall toxic culture.

Perks to Keep you Interested

MNP has tons of fun. But when it comes down to it, the management has gone way down hill and concerns are constantly swept under the rug until someone else has "time to deal with it" which seems to be very rare. Good work/life balance and benefits.

Great energy in the company - vibrant employees of all ages. Too many levels of reporting. At times it felt like numerous bosses to report to. Some of the Accountants were used to having their own small Accounting firms and had a tough time aligning with a corporation.

Public Accounting Firm Very Demanding. No Perks as Support Staff

Joined when it was a small company but has grown and contiually acquiring and merging smaller accounting firms. Not very progressive thinking company. Old school. No room for advancement in supporting roles.
Seems like, f you're not an accountant at MNP, then you are a second class employee

they are not just different by design but by industry norms as well

Anybody who works or have worked in the past at MNP, would agree that these guys have no mature processes.
One of the most successfully practiced process is of the employee layoff/ firing without reason.
Everything ends up being a hit and trail task because of hard deadlines imposed by the higher ups.
Management plays no role other than acting pricey just days before the project is ready to deliver to end-users.
People who have worked there for 10 or 15 plus years act as the flag bearers of the invisible progress the company is making

Great people & overall company culture

I have only been here as a CPA articulating student, but have been coming back term after term. The team I work with is small and growing in the firm, so I was able to work directly & get to know partners and senior managers and can honestly say that they do care about your progress and time in the firm. The culture is great, I had the opportunities got to socialize with teams outside of mine and can say that everyone does care about each other. Of course there will always be some exceptions but overall the people, culture and my team really made my time there enjoyable & worthwhile. Hours can be long during busy season but there is still a good emphasis on work-life balance and the team does notice your hard work and you get rewarded well for it.
