I used to work at two location with this company where we provided a welcoming environment to customers. I had a really good relation with my co-workers and manager , i have learned a lot of things of them.
The first few days of working there were awesome. Everyone was super welcoming. Back of house and front. The bad stuff was when i began working on the line. Was trained in one day by one person how prepere the line for brunch (was not going to work brunch at all but regular weekday).the next day i was expected to know how to setup everything And was scolded by a sous chef for not knowing. Then that same sous chef told me how to do things a certain way, and then other times the chef would teach a different way. This is where problems begin in the kitchen
I worked there for about 2 months total and ive experienced a few other things. After about a month of working i was told id be getting proper training to be more efficient. That never happened and so they decided to move me to another location to learn. Never happened. During the summer, they are too cheap to upgrade the AC system so they bought a giant fan. The fan however is never used because the chef says its too much money. Not to mention the rude/sarcastic owner, the roach infestation, the lack of cleanliness on the kitchen floors, the lack of notice for schedule changes. On the last day there i noticed that they took off 2 days for that week and when i asked the chef, he started yelling and telling me that theres too many complaints about me. I get that i wasnt the fastest worker but i did everything they told me every single day. They told me theyd give me 2 weeks to prove them that i could get better even though they still didnt have time to train me to get better. So they gave no choice but to leave.
The assistant manager has no clue how to deal with people(guests+employees) being abusive and with an aggressive attitude most of the time. The general manager is ok but seems not to care about organization and cleanliness, especially when it comes to the bar. The tip pool system was not clear at all. Basically, all employees leave the tips to the house and collect it again every Friday, but I noticed that I was always getting less than I put in.
Free meal; some nice people to work with
Disorganized, unprofessional, too much unnecessary stress and pressure
