The Best or Nothing
Sales and Leasing Consultant (Employé actuel) –  Vaughan, ON4 mars 2019
Reasonable hours and good benefits.
The product is cutting edge.
The customers range from 20 somethings looking for their first car to octogenarians who haven't driven anything buy Mercedes in the last 40 years.
The compensation gets tweaked every year with the view to reduce what a salesperson can earn
Points positifs
great deals on leases for staff

Good Benefits poor Salary Compensation and advancement. Culture is of a good nature and the organization tends to hire many young people. Management are all expats.

Worst Company Culture
Office Manager / Sales Coordinator (Ancien employé) –  Mississauga, ON19 janvier 2019
Extremely prejudice company, they give you promotions according to the skin color, they do hire ppl of color just to show that they are fair employers but when you work for the company you get to know that you are indeed just a show for the outside world, and then you are never given any good opportunity or promotions and they promote employees who have just joined 3 months ago with no skills, over you just because of your skin color, this was the first time in my 20 years of work life that I have had this experience with such a big company and that to in Canada.

Make Your Mark Internship at Mercedes-Benz Canada Inc.
Intern (Ancien employé) –  Toronto, ON13 août 2018
I was excited when I got selected to participate in this Make Your Mark Internship program at Mercedes-Benz Canada Head Office but the excitement vanished after a couple of months working here. Nothing new was happening. Work duties and responsibilities became repetitive and they expect you to do the same routine everyday for 6 months to 1 year. I also realized that the company is very traditional with no advancement in technology whatsoever. A lot of employees still needed to print files and waste papers. Everyone at Head Office does their own thing. There is little to no socialization at all as it is the most quiet work environment ever. You can imagine a traditional work space with standard sized cubicles next to each other. No collaborative work space at all. This work place does not attract millennials or newer generations to work for them. Employees aren't happy which explains why they did not receive the award "Great Place to Work" in 2018. They constantly promote internal employee growth but there is barely any! A lot of interns left after a couple months of interning here as they could no longer stand the management or the work they were assigned to do. I would recommend recent graduates to work here to put the employer name on your resume but trust me, there is no employee growth here at all.

Wash department (Employé actuel) –  Mercedes West Island28 juillet 2018
Once a upon a time it was the best dealer in the city.It was sold to a company who could not care less about there staff. The place has a union for the sales staff..Yes the sales staff!! Unheard of.The management is lacking in experience and for the most part are completely incompetent..The service is run buy a kid who is more worried about having his car cleaned then if clients are happy. All Staff with quality quit and went to the competition. Its very sad to see this every day.

Vehicles Sales Consultant
vehicle sales consultant (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC15 mai 2018
Great product and customers. However, The Boundary store is an environment of duplicity and double standards. Poor standards for management to start with! As far as the sales staff goes, the ones who are "liked" and " well connected" are supported and "fed" and the rest are simply ignored. It does not matter how hard you work, if you are not well connected or a part of the "gang", do not expect to survive professionally nor personally. Especially if you are doing well as that would trigger jealousy and further attacks and false accusations. It is a culture of hierarchies and double standards. The existence of an HR department does nothing to protect your basic legal rights. Those who have been there have learned how to play the game of the "corporate culture" and use it to their advantage and target the ones that who are hard working and honest. Watch those individuals be constantly praised and protected.

clean bright environment, engage with bright/driven sales staff and customers
File Clerk (Ancien employé) –  Windsor, ON3 mai 2018
-File invoices for customer service and parts sales
-greet customers and direct them to service areas

-long hours of repetitious work
-not a lot of added benefit of feeling that your work "makes a difference"
- quite a huge gender bias company, all the sales staff, parts department and service management were male, small percentage of female staff and were of lower placement
Points positifs
paid hour lunch, clean bright environment, engage with bright/driven sales staff and customers
Points négatifs
gender bias, not a lot of open communication for advancement

Strong brand with good intentions but poor implementation
Specialist (Ancien employé) –  98 Vanderhoof Ave24 avril 2018
Mercedes-Benz Canada is a great brand to associate with, with many friends and family swooning when saying you work for the company. Some of their perks are top-notch, like the employee vehicle plan. However, fundamentally, there are way too many inefficiencies, miscommunications, and lack of commitment from management to really recommend this place for anyone long-term.

Most teams have a "cover your own behind" mentality, which keeps business from getting done as teams simply only look out for their best interests and never want to take risks and try to grow the company. Furthermore, there is no consistent goal or values to work towards since the ones that are available are simply fluff and do not have any actual ideas or strategy behind them. Management always says to live so and so value, or work with so and so in mind but never really explain their rationale - it's simply fluff.

Their technology is archaic that it's almost comedic. Their "suite" of products doesn't actually have single-sign-on although they say it does and employees need to memorize about a dozen passwords to get into all the systems. And once into the systems, they're old and inefficient. There doesn't seem to be any real commitment to technology in the near future as there's no budget for it. The speed of the internet is also insanely slow and wi-fi isn't available for employees.

A lot of the above points may be dismissed if the salary was on par with market standards - but unfortunately, it's not. Salaries are below average, and budget isn't available for new programs, software, or technologies.
plus... Ergo, it's justified if employees just went in on a day to day basis to do the bare minimum as that is essentially what the company is paying employees to do.

Despite all of that, the culture and camaraderie between employees is awesome. There are tons of work activities and inclusion & diversity events where employees really get behind campaigns. The commitment to employee engagement is slightly there, with the employees primarily driving it forward while executives and management team don't really participate - so there's a clear disconnect between senior leadership and regular employees.

I would only recommend this place if you're starting out in your career and want to learn the basics of how a corporation runs or if you truly are a fan of the brand and can dismiss all the negatives. Or if you're looking for a company to retire with. If you're in the prime of your career and looking to disrupt and make changes, I would steer clear of Mercedes-Benz Canada. If Mercedes-Benz Canada can devote the same love and devotion for selling cars towards its employees, they would have a winning formula. Unfortunately, they're too committed to record-breaking sales and not committed enough on record-breaking employee growth.

Fun Workplace and good people
IT (Ancien employé) –  Toronto, ON13 octobre 2017
It's an amazing German company with an excellent work culture and the HR and management do a great job in taking care of the employees.

Salary is slightly low compared to the industry standards but they really know how to compensate for that by keeping the employees involved in social events and free lunches almost twice if not thrice a month.

Overall a great work culture and fun place to make friends with some really talented people but growth is slightly glacial and possible only if you have excellent relations with the right people in the top management.

Management and Policies
Multiple Positions (Ancien employé) –  Toronto, ON4 octobre 2017
Most people who work there are quite nice. It would be a good place for anyone to work if there wasn't so much favouritsm. People are promoted because they are friends with another manager regardless of education/skills/qualifications. It is a very micromanaged environment and management often go on a power trip. Unfortunately, the company backs their managers even if its wrong, which is why they have so many lawsuits or settlement cases based on wrongful termination.

Low paying, soul crunching job, no one cares how hard an employee works, their is no advancement, you can work 12 hours a shift but no one will recognize it and pay is horribly unrealistic for a company of this level.
