They pretend to treat you well until they can find a cheaper alternative to take your position. Unprofessional when it comes to following up with their customers. Builders have their jobs because they know the Vice Presidents son, not because of what they know (as a builder brags about to other staff). Can’t respect a builder like that!
It’s not about your skill level it’s about mass production and poor quality. At the end of the day you’re just another number to make their numbers grow, you’re not really valued as a person.

Not much to say other than they are Toronto related and Toronto calls the shots. Not very loyal to long standing employees.
They are very aggressive in the market

It is a well put together company , things run smoothly for the most part. But job security was non existent unless ticketed journeyman. A lot of the employees hid their stupidity very well

This was a challenging role but exciting, constantly looking for cost saving measures in both design and materials. Working with suppliers and framers to improve design and efficient builds. Management was hands off giving your room to grow, but there in the back ground for assistance if required. Managing people is the hardest part of the position looking for the win win solutions. Most enjoyable was seeing progress in the reduction of costs.

they only hire to bring people on for theiur fiscal year end in May then let them go.

the People working there are great. the upper management is absolutely horrible. employees are treated as a number. the company doesn't care about its employees welfare. Employees are nothing but a number to them. they only care about completing houses fast and not necessarily well. so long as they get their good avid ratings from the customers. DO NOT WORK HERE

Mattamy Homes itself is a great employer (Oakville/Ottawa Divisions), however, the Calgary Division is going through some really difficult times. With three executive members gone and a new president, the leadership is dramatically lacking. The morale is extremely negative, recent layoffs with no job security due to organizational changes, no room for growth, etc. Employees work long hours and are not recognized.

This particular company is a production builder unfortunately more concerned about the amount of houses in production as opposed to the end user, the homeowner. Unfortunately it starts to weigh on your mind.
