I was grateful to worked with Marriott/Starwoodhotels for 3 years. The people I've worked with are awesome, nothing beats the teamwork spirit. My supervisor is an amazing person and very supportive and take cares of her team. Employee perks are awesome as well! Thank you for the opportunity given to me.

toxic place with a nice view to watch baseball games

been hired as a full time cook,,,it turned out was only seasonal full time but after will be casual/part time,,,,didn't feel welcome by the other co-workers,,experienced some of racism ,,,you are expected to work every time they need you 24/24,,,no good communication between the management and the big chef,,,forget having a break or even getting paid for it if you don't take .
very hard to make your way with one ethnic group who over control the kitchen.

I was very uncomfortable with the fact that when you started your shift you had to go through a sea of people to find an open area to work. I would have preferred to have an assigned station that I could go to each shift.

I started out as a temp in 2018 but since being full time 2018-2019 it is really mentally exhausting working there with the back to back calls from the moment you log in to the time you end, you are also not allowed to hang up on a customer that calls 3 minutes before the end and keeps you there for another half hour, you also don’t get paid much extra for that time you stay because it’s not in your schedule as over time.

You should apply if you love talking to people, phones don’t make you anxious, are able to handle inappropriate callers and your mental health is good, though that’s what I thought and I had to take a stress leave.

No one last the 3 month probation period after hiring because of how the calls are, the people working beside you are great and really nice.

Good pay, great management, old proprietary management system

Great place to work as Front desk management is very professional. The Hotel Proprietary system is so old you need a week training to learn it which mostly uses the keyboard unlike newer systems. The best to learn how to work the ins and outs of the system is to work Night Audit. The duties you do actually demand effort and brainwork unlike other Night Audit jobs where you just stare at a wall until morning. This place will teach you the sense of urgency and vastly improve your organizational skills.

Good “For Now” Job

Excellent job to build customer service experience.
Good discounts and employee incentive program. However the incentive can be gone in the blink of an eye. So don’t count on it.

1. Employees pay into the benefits/dental care - not completely horrible, but if you want a good plan - be prepared to pay!
2. They accommodate medical needs bordering on what’s deemed legal (so it’s okay!) - employee loses out completely and is excluded. (Being ill-educated is apparent in HR). If employee needs adjustments to their schedule - may as well quit and start over again.
3. Management is whiney, and fake - all positive affirmations and zero follow-through. You must chase people down to get anything accomplished - even still, good luck trying.
4. Company claims to value their employees - its a blatant lie.
5. They do not put people first - they put their customers first - at the expense of their employees.

The Marriott Brand is a steady fast paced work environment. I have learned and still learn on a daily basis with the company. Management and employees do have a high turnover at the property I am located due to staff moving to new locations, schooling, as well as job opportunities within the company and outside.

I find the training program itself to be phenomenal but due to the hustle and bustle its hard to get the staff actually training on the computers. Management is looking into creating a new plan. Which will make it easier for new trainees hired during busy seasons.

Change is consistently taking place which I love. New protocols and procedures are always being updated to make it a work friendly, smooth, fun day for all staff.

I thoroughly enjoy working at the Marriott and look forward to growing with the company.
