An unfortunate series of events

This job provided some sense of purpose. I was happy to be there for the retirees I served and I had to adapt fast to keep up. I learned who to take advice from, and who to ignore. I was not happy with keeping an eye over my shoulder every day that I worked after reporting waste mismanagement to then turn harrassment and predatory behavior to others in and outside the workplace. Hours started dropping, a continuous stream of new hires, and I was left as one of the few people that seemed to care. To top it off, Compass Group's speak up program is to protect the company, period. They'll say it's for the employees. Do not trust this. I was let go just a few days after writing up a report to HR. I had a personal phone destroyed on the premises.You are worth more, do not let this be the start of your bright career.

Very understanding bosses

Just changed over to this company from another. So far the management has been fair to all. I feel the pay could be better for the work that is involved in the run of a day.

Extremely negative and unfair work environment

Got 1 day of training then worked alone for 8 days straight after. Completely overworked. Management is awful. The most negative work environment I have ever set foot in. Was not properly trained then was criticized for not knowing certain things, as if that’s my fault.

Relaxed work

You get what you give.You can do the minimum from what is required from you and get minimum wage.Tou can work hard and get little bonuses. The only way to earn extra money is to work overtime. It is relaxed work atmosphere and some free time between tasks.

Toxic District Manager with Zero compassion, integrity, and leadership skill development attributes.

Lack of systems training from inexperienced District Managers. Never around. Over emphasis of getting corporate reports/audits done on time with underscoring and disregard of trying to stay focused on managing clients daily operations.DM's lack understanding, compassion and integrity. Focus is too much on costs and the client and number crunching with pressured micro managing tactics rather than having that human interaction with Staff and Client relations for the greater good of positive team building/client/staff and Resident relations. Overall, DM's lack of Leadership/Culinary experience, Integrity, Compassion. All corporate business operations vs the human side of a daily operations of work life balance. With the current, brace yourself get ready for a ride with a lot of mis information and double standards. You need to take care of your staff (live) and they will take care of the client.

Please stay away from this company they are just unethical.

Work part time at a site that contract them, the home was bad in itself and I saw everything from racism to employees being walked off the job (by the home and Marquise). A lot of work to do, bad pay and too much pressure are the least of your worries. The dietary aides work almost as hard as you (of not harder) and taking a break t is next to impossible.

Do not waste your valuable time with this company!!!

Incompetent management - not interested at all in solving problems so that they can constantly blame and intimidate the frontline workers. No care and respect for their staff. At times, there are 5-6 managers just giggling and fooling around doing nothing significant while you are cooking for about 250 residents by yourself. Always understaffed and asking for unrealistically too much work from associates.

Low pay, incompetent management, useless HR

Worst job ever! I was forced to quit after complaints to management and HR regarding workplace bullying and harassment from racist co-workers were ignored. Manager was not trained properly and relied on workers to figure stuff out which led to more problems and even the Ministry of Labour coming in and citing them for violations for unsafe conditions. After leaving, I had to personally get the Ministry involved in order to get my pay statements and ROE. Their refusal to give it in proper time delayed my EI (I had to go on sickness benefits from everything I went through with this company). I started the job smiling everyday and left the job on antidepressants. Nothing special about minimum wage and benefits are after 6 months. Marquise gets contracts for different places and since you’re contracted to work there, you get to work with people earning so much more than you for the same job. The client pays their employees well and contracts Marquise for help but apparently Marquise doesn’t feel the same way about their employees (financially or for their wellbeing and physical safety)

still unknown for the reason of being let go

Still unknown as to the reason for the release. Glad I get to move on. Found out later the manager who release me was also let go 8 months later. I can only wish the best for my team.

Worse company ever work in my 20 years in Canada

Poor Management District Manager no support and make happy the client sacrifying the other Manager and casing the termination of your employment with no really reason and suspending you saying theey do investigation even when you show the prove of the evidence they dont care

Manager

Terrible company to work for. Couldn't get time off when a family member passed away. Pay you for 40hrs/ week but expect you to put in double the hours. No recognition of good work. Only slap on the hands if something goes wrong due to their low budgets on training, recognition, programs etc.

Not interested in their employees

This company is strictly after a good bottom line and does not care how it is achieved. Most staff are over worked and treated poorly. The head office management are not supported and often are held accountable for budgets that can’t be met.

worst company i have ever worked for!

Management pays no attention to what is ACTUALLY going on in the unit. In 6 months I was lucky to see my manager maybe 5 times and 2 of them were events they were participating in. Some of the policies are rediculous as well as their hierarchy! They claim to be Canadas greenest company yet throw out litterally tons of food a day! Because the vacant dishwasher has been there the longest they have seniority! They want to cut as many corners as possible when it comes to paying associates. Don't waste your time! Skip these guys, they are useless at understanding boots on the ground. Just in it for their own advancement even if it means sacrificing their own morals!

No future here

No management, no support and absolutely no respect for your efforts. If you go for this job keep looking for another because the frustration will make drive you out. The union staff run this operation there is absolutely no leadership, if you don't believe me just ask how many managers have come and gone in the last few years. Life is far too short to waste here.

Horrible management!!! No respect. Over worked, short staffed and under paid if your lucky!! Promises to appear by managers but never show. Unless they think your doing something wrong. Cold shoulder is a form of what they call fair treatment. Management promises raises to get lip service. Great horrible awful company!!

dont do it . life is to short

Typical day is covering for Short staffing and poor scheduling. a big company does not always know what they are doing. very disorganized. Management changes regularly . rarely know who you report to. and when you do find out. it changes fast. Great people But the most under paid Staff in any company. this company if owned by compass group Canada one of the biggest food distributors in the world. The lowest paying for hourly workers. hardest part of job is being trained properly. they lack skills in training. job duties always being changed do to poor management. best part of the job .....? Don't waste your time. there are better company's to work for that actually care for their staff.

Real Learning

The company has a very large base all over Canada. So as it is big establishment the chances of learning is very high on a daily basis. I would recommend anyone who is interested in Hospitality and service industry this is the best.
