Loved my job and the culture of the company when I began. Became very concentrated on selling credit cards to customers the last year or so, created a tense and unhappy environment in store. Focussed around email capture, pay raise was less than 25 cents per year. Fun job,bad pay. Met some great people.
Discount to share with family and friends!!
Unappreciated, no work/life balance on salary, bad $$, pressure from head office to get customer’s information
Honestly this should be your last option as a job. If you’re in dire need for money, have at it.. but if you have the choice .. run far away 😂 this place is the worst company I have ever worked for. The management in the north Oshawa location bully’s and harasses their employees and allows other full time staff to degrade and put down other staff. If you’re not in the building they will ask other team members to give them personal details of your life without your knowledge. Even if you’re in the building they’ll ask other team members to give them information on your personal life .. kinda creepy if you ask me, but I guess that’s what you get when you’re 40+ years old stuck in the same retail job you started working 15 years ago and have absolutely nothing better to do with your life. Anyways.. take it from me, stay away from this company 😂
Literally every single thing about the job
I truly enjoy working at Mark's. My co-workers are like family and management are approachable and work with you to address any concerns. Very supportive, especially with uncalled for, petty complaints from aggressive customers or those who simply NEED to complain. Always something to do to keep yourself busy. Seasonal and daily stock, new displays; storewide and special event/sales ensures a steady pace and continued interaction with customers. Employee discount makes up for the minimum wage pay.
Minimal P/T hours during slow seasons.
Working at Marks has made going to work fun. You look at the schedule in hopes of shifts because you look forward to each shift. Mark's provides training so you can provide the proper assistance to customers. Yes I love my job.

Everyone here is fun to work with. Great location. Good hours. Always something to do so you don’t get bored.Flexible hours/shifts. Employee discount for purchases since you should wear the clothing
Great people here
Not enough hours due to covid
Great place to start wokring and gaining experience. Long days at work and a fast paced environment. High turn over company , but they offer extensive and paid training to all the employees. Lots of flexibility in the schedule is you are a part timer. They offer a generous employe discount of 40% on everything reguar price and 20% on top of the reduced prices.
job security, flexibility
I’ve seen a lot of bad and good comments, I think it just depends on which store your working at. Everyone here is so nice. Management is so helpful and understanding, and take notice in your achievements. The coworkers are very friendly. Overall rear place.
Rude customers. (You get that everywhere)
I love the people I work with... but the manager doesn't stay on top of breaks/Lunches and often doesn't give you a break... you could work a 8 hour shift but unless you ask they dont off you a break... That is fine but I work more then one job and if I am working in the late afternoon I have work all day... I need that 15 minute break... the young staff seem to get it np/
not enough breaks
Management was very unprofessional. Lots of talking behind backs, management has favorites. Very unorganized, the most enjoyable part of job was the break.

very draining and emotionally unjust work environment/culture
Had an excellent experience working at marks. The job was awesome, the people I worked with are the best. I enjoyed every minute working there. Very clean well run store. My manager and assistant manager were very easy to work with. Excellent people
Holiday season is quite busy, with longer hours/more shifts. Management ensures regular break adherence to ensure staff moral and energy remains high.
Lunch/break room on different floor
Marks was a great place to work, even if I only had the experience working there for a short time. The team there is incredibly helpful in aiding you in learning and growing. They are patient and willing to work with you as best as they can. I am hoping to some day get the opportunity to work as part of their team once again.
