I liked the job itself, but my manager was a very unhappy man. He blamed every other person for the short comings of the store, but if (as a member of the management team) I brought up something that was a problem, he didn't do anything about it. I moved up quickly within that store environment in particular.
I personally wouldn't recommend working for the company. Although one good thing I have to say is that they are very accommodating with your school schedule. On the other hand, they're very heavy on favoritism. It's very hard to climb the ladder with the company. If you're looking for a casual summer job it's decent.
I was hired as a visual merchandiser but mainly put out clothes and sold. I was a key holder until I was told they were getting rid of the key holders. It was not important they said. I rarely saw the district manager and my manager was a micro-manager who took credit for my ideas.
worked at white oaks square...management is poor! If i was the owner of this store i would have had all the women supervisor canned or demoted. Store is a mess, back room un organized stuff all over the place. In my short time got terminated, in which i had many years as a merchandiser or a visual merchThe reason was not working out BS. I thought i would apply close to home, big mistake. Stay away from this store. Like i said you are working with mainly woman.

The company was good to work for 3 years ago. They wee continuing to advance with new products and great quality. Once Canadian Tire steped in an purchased everything started to go downhill. Flyers were not clear with sales, products not at advanced, quality went down, styles were same year after year. Opportunity to move up in the company went down.
discount is decent
not enough hours
I absolutely loved my job until my third manager started. She and the following three had zero trust for their employees. Half of the staff was fired on suspicion of stealing with no proof, the other half quit because management made them feel like they were doing something wrong. In the three years I worked there, I was the only consistent employee. There were six different managers in that time and I don't even know how many employees - most did not stay more than a couple of months. Apart from all of that drama, it was fun. I loved merchandising.
