It was great helping customers find what they needed and finishing it right to the end with ringing their purchases through! I would recommend it to anyone!

Ok place to work for students or for a first job. Learn to cash, tidy up and help customers find what they are looking. Customers can be very rude at times.

I enjoyed working there. Everyone is so nice and friendly, and if i had any sort of issues i would simply have to speak with my boss about them and she would find a way to work around them.
Points positifs
Team work

Very nice place to work if retail is up your alley, geat management, kind coworkers, and a busy spot so there's always something to keep you working. Great quality product to be proud of selling.

was on my feet all day, on slow days it was painfully boring, but on a busy day it goes by way faster, great place to work environment wise. Very freindly and welcoming.

The work is very light but the hard part of the Job isn't the constant re-stocking, its the once in a blue moon costumer that does not understand store and corporate policy. for example the usual costumer is a laborer/worker, They take the shoes they just bought and get them filthy full mud and grime without trying them out at home first. We at Marks remind all costumers that they should try their new shoes or work boots at home to see if its comfortable for constant use. but unfortunately we get some costumers with one or all of the following issues (Visually noticeable ware and tare/ dirt and grime/ no receipt/ no proof of purchase) But Thankfully to my managers they resolve all issues using their higher clearance levels in the digital cashier. I don't know what I would of done without them. Thank you if your seeing this.
Points positifs
Discounts (30%) on all Items in shop.
Points négatifs
Low pay, seasonal work.

A couple of people are nice but if there are people who are not so friendly to newbies, then they can keep the 40% employee discount! But, the Manager is nice.

assisted customers in finding work related products as well as casual clothing. Management was sometimes strict in terms of taking time off and it was difficult to balance school and work.

HIGH Turnover
horrible management, wierd priorities, untrustworthy, not doing what is asked and passing off jobs to employees, not keeping the books or store organized. No hours, no time off when needed (sick days), disorganized store and miscommunication between managers which resulted in confusion with the schedule.

i did however gain knowledge on how to fit customers with boots and clothing that was right for their work environment.

The hardest part was turning customers down for returns because they had already warn their boots/clothing past warranty.

The best part was the people that I worked with that weren't managers, and having a department to myself.

At West Edmonton Mall, there was barely a working toilet, always rotten food in the fridge, the construction leaked drywall cement into our staff room, the roof leaked and got clothing moldy, which we were then told we had to sell. The back room was a disaster because it was so small.

I usually open with a co-worker at 7 am. We replenish the stock and I am responsible for processing on-line orders. We open the store at 8 am
I have learned a great deal about retail sales. I have learned about moving the stock around and becoming familiar with our products.

I enjoy my co-workers. It has been enjoyable learning from and then being able to share things I have learned with new employees.

I have learned that there is a great deal of physical work involved in running a retail store.

The hardest part of this job is finding evidence that a customer has come in and stolen something from the store.

I enjoy my work and my co-workers. My favorite interactions are with customers, who come into the store and then leave expressing their gratitude to me for helping them. I love it when I can make a positive difference in their lives.
Points positifs
staff discounts
Points négatifs
the lunchroom is a little small

This was an ok job. The people here are really nice. Mark's is very much all about pleasing the customer which is nice and cute until it makes things confusing, especially when it comes to things like the return policy. At the store I worked at nobody ever seemed to be on the same page, what the Manager said was different from what the Assistant Manager said which was also different from what the supervisor would say. Another major problem was many MANY times in almost every shift there was only ever 3 or 2 of us closing which made it hard to get things done or catch thefts.
Points positifs
Chill and nice coworkers, if there are hours available and you ask for them they will probably be given to you.
Points négatifs
Availability was never taken into consideration when building schedule.

Working at Mark's is a very enjoyable place to work, there is always something to learn in the job with the changes that are continuing to happen. My co-workers are the best, we laugh when we can and when it comes to work, we work together and get things done on time making sure the product is out and displayed properly. A typical day at work for me is to go in read the daily input so we know what and if there are changes being made, then i will start with replenishing if need be or cleaning, and look after the customers and help them with their choices and sell it to them. ( If they want it )
The most enjoyable part of my job there is to interact with the customers and help them learn what all our product is all about.
Points positifs
the employe discount
Points négatifs
the lack of hours

A typical day at work involved tidying the product around the store and laying out new product to fill up empty spaces while working with customers to help them find what they're looking for. Mark's Work Warehouse sells a lot of high end product that was important to know facts about to be able to sell the right thing to the customer.I worked as a cashier as well, ringing people in through the busy Christmas season.
I learned the companies different computer systems that are available for searching for different product and for ordering things for customers. I learned how to package and process Purolator orders. I learned about different workwear and clothing lines. I also learned how to process credit cards the old way when our debit machines and systems crashed.

Management changed during the time I worked there and different rules were implemented by the company which was hard for people who had been working there for many years. Some of the new policies made it a lot more difficult to work during the Christmas season. That was probably the hardest part of the job, working through the new processes and policies that many of the employees did not agree with and felt wasted time.

I loved my co-workers so much and they were honestly the best part of the job. They were an incredibly hard working team that really stuck together and were there for one another. They worked hard to provide a nice and warm place to work. I really enjoyed working with them.
Points positifs
understanding staff
Points négatifs
not enough hours
