The company could care less about you!!! I worked in UNSAFE work environments and had to see a doctor, and they do not care if tools you need to do your job are broken. No pay raises, you will work your butt off for absolutely nothing, no appreciation or advancement. They do not not help you be the best you could be. Apply elsewhere. Coworkers are lovely though.
Pretty much everything
Ok place to work for students or for a first job. Learn to cash, tidy up and help customers find what they are looking. Customers can be very rude at times.

I enjoyed working there. Everyone is so nice and friendly, and if i had any sort of issues i would simply have to speak with my boss about them and she would find a way to work around them.
lack of hours to give to workers
The work is very light but the hard part of the Job isn't the constant re-stocking, its the once in a blue moon costumer that does not understand store and corporate policy. for example the usual costumer is a laborer/worker, They take the shoes they just bought and get them filthy full mud and grime without trying them out at home first. We at Marks remind all costumers that they should try their new shoes or work boots at home to see if its comfortable for constant use. but unfortunately we get some costumers with one or all of the following issues (Visually noticeable ware and tare/ dirt and grime/ no receipt/ no proof of purchase) But Thankfully to my managers they resolve all issues using their higher clearance levels in the digital cashier. I don't know what I would of done without them. Thank you if your seeing this.

Low pay, seasonal work.
managers were super respectful, workplace was very professional, supervisors very understanding, coworkers were nice, it was just so boring because there were no customers. often times I would work a 7 hour shift and help maybe 5 customers
very professional, treated well and with respect
long hours, boring
Marks is a great environment and a great place to learn skills as in communicating with customers, multi tasking, and much more. would recommend for anyone.
great employee discount.
always different hours.
- Always have something to do -Learned a lot about the product we carried and what made the customer's satisfied with out product. -Management was always changing that was the hard part of the job because everyone has different rules and regulations -Not enough hours -Coworkers were really friendly
A couple of people are nice but if there are people who are not so friendly to newbies, then they can keep the 40% employee discount! But, the Manager is nice.
HIGH Turnover horrible management, wierd priorities, untrustworthy, not doing what is asked and passing off jobs to employees, not keeping the books or store organized. No hours, no time off when needed (sick days), disorganized store and miscommunication between managers which resulted in confusion with the schedule. i did however gain knowledge on how to fit customers with boots and clothing that was right for their work environment. The hardest part was turning customers down for returns because they had already warn their boots/clothing past warranty. The best part was the people that I worked with that weren't managers, and having a department to myself. At West Edmonton Mall, there was barely a working toilet, always rotten food in the fridge, the construction leaked drywall cement into our staff room, the roof leaked and got clothing moldy, which we were then told we had to sell. The back room was a disaster because it was so small.
I usually open with a co-worker at 7 am. We replenish the stock and I am responsible for processing on-line orders. We open the store at 8 am I have learned a great deal about retail sales. I have learned about moving the stock around and becoming familiar with our products. I enjoy my co-workers. It has been enjoyable learning from and then being able to share things I have learned with new employees. I have learned that there is a great deal of physical work involved in running a retail store. The hardest part of this job is finding evidence that a customer has come in and stolen something from the store. I enjoy my work and my co-workers. My favorite interactions are with customers, who come into the store and then leave expressing their gratitude to me for helping them. I love it when I can make a positive difference in their lives.
the lunchroom is a little small
This was an ok job. The people here are really nice. Mark's is very much all about pleasing the customer which is nice and cute until it makes things confusing, especially when it comes to things like the return policy. At the store I worked at nobody ever seemed to be on the same page, what the Manager said was different from what the Assistant Manager said which was also different from what the supervisor would say. Another major problem was many MANY times in almost every shift there was only ever 3 or 2 of us closing which made it hard to get things done or catch thefts.
Chill and nice coworkers, if there are hours available and you ask for them they will probably be given to you.
Availability was never taken into consideration when building schedule.
Very slow environment for sales. Short staffed a lot of the time. The workers made the job go by faster. Most enjoyable part was cleaning up the store when we didn't have customers.
Discount on expensive wear
Working at Mark's is a very enjoyable place to work, there is always something to learn in the job with the changes that are continuing to happen. My co-workers are the best, we laugh when we can and when it comes to work, we work together and get things done on time making sure the product is out and displayed properly. A typical day at work for me is to go in read the daily input so we know what and if there are changes being made, then i will start with replenishing if need be or cleaning, and look after the customers and help them with their choices and sell it to them. ( If they want it ) The most enjoyable part of my job there is to interact with the customers and help them learn what all our product is all about.
