1. The workload is way out of control. I once worked until 2 am. You are expected to work late nights, weekends at month-end.
2. The pay is a disgrace. I got paid 20K below the industry average.

3. Promotion/opportunities are based on favoritism

4. Manager and AVP do not even know your name after you worked with them for 2 years. Only two Asians in a 6 people small team and they still cannot distinguish them.

A typical day at work was just getting task don and keeping the store neat , clean and tidy. I learn how to help customer with he/she needs. The culture o the work place was paceful and co workers are welcoming and friendly . everything was pretty much easy. most enjoyable part was making money and helping customer with a smile .

A great place to learn a lot. You will get your feet wet first with some very intensive training followed with on-the-job mentoring until you understand your position fully.

An all boys club where they make fun of staff and nobody knows how long they will last. A lot of chest puffing to show you mean biz with stores - not a happy place!

- Always have something to do
-Learned a lot about the product we carried and what made the customer's satisfied with out product.

-Management was always changing that was the hard part of the job because everyone has different rules and regulations

While there is a lot of information to grasp about the innovative products, the job itself if generally low pressure. The customers that shop at Mark's are usually regulars and already know what they are looking for which makes the job less about getting a sale and more about building rapport. There is always a sale going on, and the company does a great job of informing people about the great deals being offered, making the customers more informed than the average shopper, which is a good thing. Co-workers and managers were all very knowledgeable and supportive of your growth, very family oriented environment. The hardest part of the job are the big sale days when everything is basically half off, this can be a bit stressful as the stores usually don't have a large staff. The most enjoyable part of the job is definitely the relationships you build with customers over time who not only come to trust you but seek you out to help make the right decisions. very satisfying.

Mark's was a great place to work for. The staffs we're awesome and always working hard and always willing to help and serve our customers. It was always a pleasure working everyday because of the staffs and the overall work environment. I have learned so much working at Mark's, it has taught me how to help run a business, understand our products and specially our customers and their needs.

Working at Mark's ensured that everyday is different, no such thing as a typical day. A smaller size store requires its employees to be diverse and ready to dive into any role at anytime.
One learns to be the sales associate that attracts the customers attention to a cashier that ends the sales. You learn to be a multitasker because having 3-4 people working one shift means everyone is doing several jobs at one time but also ensuring that each job is done properly. The hardest part of the job was to quit because I enjoyed working there. The most enjoyable part of the job was the co-workers and all the of the friends I made.

I worked there because the staff was understanding and we all got along. When planning our schedules they kept in mind that some of us were in school.
