Working at Marks can be some what fun most of the time. But usually its very stressful and not that great. Some of the management at the location that I work at, they don't really follow through if there is something going on with the staff... which isn't good.
Mark's is a really good company to work with. They are so nice and friendly like a family . They all support and take care like there own people. I never feel tried to work all day. I learned a lot from Mark's. They are all behaviour is amazin. I can't express in writing how good a place it is to work.
I only did part time hours. Been there before. Manager is great; however, there was one shift leader that acted a bit like a bully. I questioned someone from another store and was told "it's just the way she comes off." Hardest part - this most recent one was a new store for me. Was used to previous manager, that would utilize my strengths, instead of my weaknesses. Best part - loved that this store was so organized in the back room. It was easy to look for stuff. The floor organization, however, was not as organized. It was a "test" store for organizing by colour. As a shopper and worker of this store, it was difficult to put stuff away and search for like items of different colours (nice to have all colours of same style together).

The job where I learned how to be a great professional, dependable and an excellent communicator. Going into the job, I did not fully understand a workforce that could be a community. The atmosphere that it exudes is one that I can describe very well. Comfort in knowing that they have products that you want to sell to the customer, because it will benefit them. With- in their impressive innovative technologies, they improve faster or as fast as the leading brand name clothes. Opportunity to understand and strive for the next level within the organization, as well as the ability to get hired in greater opportunistic positions. If... you showcase that you are mature enough to reach out, grasp your skills and be promoted if you are ready. I had the chance to set up new locations (Merivale and Kemptville). I had the opportunity to help run a clearance store as a temporary shift leader. I designed additional signs for stores, helped clear out off-sites, provided above excellent customer service strategies and learned about "Teamwork that Works!" Best Job I Have Had Yet!
Marks is a decent place to work. I was able to learn many interpersonal as a supervisor. As a merchandise coordinator I waw able to develop my eye for detail. As an Imagewear coordinator I developed my ability to multitask, as well developed my ability to draw in clients from the public. Majority of management are great to work for but not all are supportive of the employees needs.
This was an ok job. The people here are really nice. Mark's is very much all about pleasing the customer which is nice and cute until it makes things confusing, especially when it comes to things like the return policy. At the store I worked at nobody ever seemed to be on the same page, what the Manager said was different from what the Assistant Manager said which was also different from what the supervisor would say. Another major problem was many MANY times in almost every shift there was only ever 3 or 2 of us closing which made it hard to get things done or catch thefts.
Chill and nice coworkers, if there are hours available and you ask for them they will probably be given to you.
Availability was never taken into consideration when building schedule.
Helped keep store clean, greet customers and help them with anything they needed, and organized the back room. Really enjoyed working here but the hours dropped after christmas to one shift a week.
Good Place to work. As always in retail, there is more to do than there are hours in a day. Salary budgeting is a little askew, based on previous years sales volume. But the hours buckets are not well defined and are too wide spread. As a result some stores that are on the cusp of the next million dollar mark are short changed the next year. Company is aware of the concern and is looking into correcting it in the near future!
