The store in general are generally well looked after, clean and maintained. They expect you to also look the part and be very conservative looking (no earrings, wear black uniform, natural hair colour etc..)

Passive aggressive management, mundane job that has you standing in the same spot for 8 hours a day with timed 10 minute breaks. Decent for your first job, but I would not recommend working here long-term (as a cashier at least) unless you’re a high school student working in the evenings or a post-secondary student because the job’s mundane nature is very easy to balance with school.

Longo's = WORST place to work - Full of Misogynist/Incompetent Managerss

As a 4th year University student I worked part-time at Longo's for 5 months and it was the worst experience I have ever had. I am a Law major and I hope one day to use my skills to help current employees find justice against the misogynist, incompetent and "creepy" managers they have working at all their stores. I would say 90% of the stores have these "type" of Managers after speaking with other employees. What is shocking is that they are never held accountable for their actions which clearly shows this is the culture of the company and it stems from the Head Office down. The CEO should be ashamed of himself for condoning the environment he has created, as it is not a healthy, equitable and fair environment. Nothing is done to address the abusive "ego" minded treatment towards employees; you have no choice but to quit or suffer. Fortunately I was able to quit and I found another job related to my field, however, I advise anyone with any sense of self respect to never even consider working at Longo's and for the women/young girls to find the courage to fight against the misogynistic attitudes of the men who should of not only been fired years ago, but charged with abuse and harassment. NOTE: during COVID it is even worse, they don't enforce staff to wear their masks and the Manager of my store would always wear it on his chin and mock those who were concerned about the protocols.

Worked as a cashier for about half of a year. Most of the job was pretty straightforward and it was busy at peak times, especially since construction was happening in the area. The customers were some of the most entitled and rude people I have ever met, especially during the switchover to charging for plastic bags. People would throw a fit because of 20 cents of plastic bags on a 400 dollar order. My experience with my manager was pretty terrible, and the reason that I actually left the job was because I had a negative interaction with a customer despite maintaining my composure, and when she brought me into the office to talk and I explained what happened she told me that "You must have done something wrong, he is usually such a nice guy!" I understand that in front of the customer you have to act like they are not the jerk but in private I would have hoped that she would stand up for me and agree.

The work at Longos can be stressful, many costumers come through every day and not all are happy and easy to deal with you need to get things done fast in a orderly fashion while trying to make each and every customer happy. The management staff at Fairview is great and made me feel like part of the family

The managers were hard to deal with. They were cheap, won't pay well to their employees. Employees must work very hard, and very tiring. They kept an eye on you wherever you go in the store. As if you are a child, that even going to the washroom was hard, very strict of the time clock "sign in and out". But good benefits. They were okay to work with.

A typical work shift for part time would be to come in, head to the locker room, change or prepare for your shift, head to your department and get to work. Depending on the length of your shifts you will get a break at one point and then after you just go back to work.

The environment was professional and the management was supportive and helpful when they were required to be. Great place to work while I was in school since they were flexible with hours.

I love working at Longos' the people are like my second family,
they help me when needed and are very flexible with my hours. The only thing is i am still considered a student even though i do a full Customer service work i should be considered part time and get above minimum wage.

I find that a lot of what people have said on here is true. Management in most Longos' is very similar in terms of them being preferential and hierarchal(as in they definitely pick favourties). It is very clear that management is on a power trip. The hours can be a little bit brutal some weeks and standing for long periods of time is killer. My co-workers are awesome, friendly and helpful. All of them are willing to help whenever I have a question or I need assistance with something. Overall a good company to work for.(just depends on location, I guess) I learned a lot about customer service and how to properly and efficiently help many customers in a short time span. I also learned a lot more about multi-tasking and how to better do so, which always beneficial. Longos does withhold their motto of treating you (you as in the employee and you the customer) like family. The best part of working at Longos obviously the Starbucks discount! Also my co-workers.

They do training over two weeks as part of your shifts. A typical day is consist of many hours of standing at the cash register working and maintaining a clean work space. Managers are kind and mostly flexible with shifts but punctual.

The actual work at Longos wasn't anything special, but the people you work with are amazing and all very kind and caring. I worked in the salad bar as well as at cash. Both pretty standard jobs, good for a first long term job

Longos was a very good company to work with. I had a chance to work with many wonderful people. I worked in two locations while moving due to my husbands job. It was a good experience to have and it is always great to learn new skills.
