Fun Place to work if you are not management

This company is fun to work for if you are part time staff. As part time your job is just to sell, help with shipments and keep the store clean. Key holders and managers are over worked and under paid with upper management telling you can make more money in commission. Keep in mind you have other daily operations as a manager so selling sometimes gets passed on to the part time staff. Also be prepared to be “coached” if your team is not doing well as individuals in sales so say goodbye to your commission. Goals are unattainable and selling behaviours are ridiculous. The upper management will always tell you that there is room to grow but will never give you a raise unless you move up in management which does not happen unless a store manager or co manager leaves. Be prepared to make almost the same wage as a part time staff if you do not make commission as a Co-manager.Other problems with this company is that they expect you to have open availability. They call you in on your days off because stock or marketing materials does not arrive on time. Be prepared for the schedule to change at any moment because of all the delays. Work life balance is very difficult as a key holder. The best things about this job is that it is chill when you find the people you like working with, the 40% off discount on most products and the benefits as full time staff.

Fun people but sub-par job

I have met some of my best friends at Little Burgundy but I honestly don't know how considering how competitive of an environment it is. Sales goals are super unrealistic and create a hostile work environment that doesn't really create an enjoyable space. You don't make commission so you're pretty much just trying to reach your sales goals just to keep your job. You're expected to jump on customers as soon as they walk in the door and if they don't buy anything you get questioned why. There's also a time over the holidays from November to January where you can't ask for any time off, even if the store is going to be overstaffed anyways.

Points positifs

Employee discount, cool people, understanding about work/life balance

Points négatifs

Sometimes short sometimes long shifts, short notice about work schedule, very competitive

fun place to work at

Fun place to work at. Great team. Good support from managers. Discount on items in store.Too much pressure on sales which can be stressful. They also expect you to close late and change the visual presentation of the store (which can take hours) and then come in the next morning.

Points positifs

discount on shoes

Points négatifs

too much pressure on sales. Late closings

Too much pressure for a minimum wage job

This business pushes sales goals on their employees with zero commission unless you’re management. The only incentive for employees to reach their sales goal is the fact that they get graded every month on their sales. Which means truly the only incentive is to not lose your job. I was working 40-50 hours a week and they make you close the store and come in immediately the next morning. It’s just not worth it at all.

Points positifs

Limited discount

Points négatifs

Stressful, no life balance if you’re full time

Toxic environment, extremely competitive

SO competitive. You work with no commission but do tasks that make it seems like you are. Sales goals are ridiculous and get threatened to be written up if not making the goals. Also, SOPS are expected to be made every day and in every month. For the work being done, you expect to get paid more but you don't. Not a fun place to work at all. Also having to talk to customers as soon as they look at a shoe even if the customer ignores you, you get in trouble for not engaging.

Points positifs

Relax dress code

Points négatifs

Sales goals, competitive, toxic environment

Productive and fun workplace. Great learning opportunity.

Great place to work for if you like pushing yourself to make sales goals and percentages. The sales goals and SOP's keeps us employees engage on selling and helping the company. However, some District Mangers come up with ridiculous goals on some days and it really shows that a lot of these DM's are out of touch with consumer habits. Great workplace culture as I made friends with everyone. The hardest part of the job is getting your SOP's.

Awesome coworkers, TERRIBLE to work for

It was a really cool store to work at with really awesome people to work with but management wasn’t very understanding about stuff at all. I got in trouble for going to the hospital in the middle of the night before a shift for mental health reasons, called in with plenty of notice as well as a doctor’s note. Then was told that “we all feel sad sometimes” with super understanding or empathy. Would be made to stay after the time being scheduled to keep the store open an extra half hour in a mall that the rest of the stores were closed to try and make the day’s budget.

Fun

Good place to work in, good training, easy to adapt to the environment. Good discount on shoes (40% off), customers are easy and good co workers as well

Don’t, just don’t.

Run from this company, they do not value you or your time and effort, nor do they acknowledge your previous work history and rank. Nothing more than pretentious, back stabbing, manipulative wolves in sheep’s clothing. They’ll gas you up and tell you there’s room for advancement, show you one or two employees they’ve promoted as “proof”, but never follow through. Also, minimum wage or below minimum wage if assistant manager with standard retail benefits. You’re better off looking elsewhere if you intend to move up and gain experience that’s actually valuable from people with integrity... you won’t find it here.

Points positifs

Retail benefits, 40% discount on merch, easy work

Points négatifs

Difficult management, unrealistic expectations for little return, undervalued and overworked, constant empty promises and deceit.
Avez-vous trouvé cet avis utile?

Just no.

The manager doesn’t delegate tasks to the rest of the management team then proceeds to complain about a lack of time and days off. Nothing you do will ever be good enough for the store manager and district manager. They like to dangle promotions over you and then never follow through. Overall not a good experience, very high turn over and no room to grow.

Points positifs

Points négatifs

Low pay, high sales goals despite a pandemic, high turnover, no growth

Love the team but dislike unprofessional upper management

I loved all the friendships I made with my coworkers, and my manager and assistant manager were always supportive and welcoming. Compared to all of the other retail stores I've worked at, Little Burgundy was probably the best BECAUSE OF THE TEAM and I give 5 stars to the team. It never felt toxic until the higher ups for the company started to create such an unwelcoming atmosphere by giving us unrealistic goals to make during a pandemic. Traffic in the store was so much more slower because of the pandemic and this became difficult trying to make these goals. Despite going through a pandemic, the higher ups did not care to understand and started to force employees out by giving write ups if you didn't make these goals and eventually fire you. They would also demote you or not schedule you if they didn't like you. Most of the time, the higher ups did not praise our team for doing a good job and constantly pointed out what we didn't make or achieve. AND if you tried to ask for help on how to sell a handbag or shoecare, or whatever it was that you needed help with, you would get no support or advice at all. At the end of the day, the higher ups made it clear that they were going to get rid of many of us soon which became very stressful. Because of these unrealistic sales goals that were hard to make during this pandemic, we were considered "bad" employees. It's very clear that the higher ups don't care about the employees and only care about making sales.

Points positifs

Worked with amazing people, good discount

Points négatifs

Unrealistic goals during a pandemic, negativity from upper management

Fun People to be around

When working in the back as a runner, I learned a lot from my teammates and comprehended new ways of handling issues regarding people or, in my case, shoe boxes. My coworkers and I had a lot of fun working in the back as we would talk about our days and how we wanted to go about them.

Points positifs

Great Coworkers

Points négatifs

No paid time off

Fun and Productive workplace

I enjoy working here because we have the right balance of having fun while also staying productive, especially during times its not busy. They also taught me a lot of things such as sequencing shoes, organizing the store, helping out customers and also selling shoe care. The environment is a great place for everyone especially if it’s your first job, they also help you feel welcome and comfortable.

toxic people and high demand job

I hated working at the sherway little burgundy location. I thought it would be a chill and fun place to work but it was very much the opposite. everyone who works there hates one another. since the company is doing terrible in sales, every day you MUST sell a certain amount of things and it is EXTREMELY stressful. managers watch over ur shoulder and critique you anytime you even SPEAK. 4 customers come into the store every hour and never buy anything cause the store never has sales. then you get yelled at for not selling hard enough. they push you so hard to sell and push customers to buy something to the point where they are uncomfortable. I was never properly trained and they just expected me to know everything. I basically taught myself how to use the system because i’d rather that than get dirty looks from the managers when I ask for help. I do not recommend working here.

Points positifs

consistent shifts

Points négatifs

long hours, stressful, toxic environment, messy

Unorganized company with low pay

The product is really great but often out of sync with what is trending - the buyer usually misses the right seasons for styles and stores end up with way too much stock of an out of style item. The DM is extremely unprofessional and manipulates employees they do not like into quitting (forcing them off scheduling, looking for excuses to talk badly about them). The DM will call managers on their days off and yell about in store issues or berate employees they do not like.Pressure to make sales goals is very high and despite COVID-19 being very real, corporate management does not lower sales goals or commission goals to match the new traffic (MUCH lower due to a global pandemic). The company also did not install any plexi-glass to protect employees at the point of sale and was unwilling to take precautionary measures in order to seem less strict than competitors. The benefits are the best thing about the job if you are full time - they cover most prescriptions (100%) and have a decent dental plan (will cover 50~80% depending on what is being done).Management is underpaid and overworked - many managers make minimum wage on a commission based bonus (you only make commission if you meet your sales goal). The discount is very generous at 40% off most items.

Points positifs

discount, prescription coverage

Points négatifs

low wages

Little work-life balance with disorganized leadership

Store managers are overworked with little opportunity to negotiate pay. Salary is not competitive, nor does it reflect the level of work that is expected. DM is disorganized and often unavailable for managers to ask questions, discuss opportunities, etc. Lack of advancement opportunities to work at HO.

Chill workplace

Good job for a part-time student, though the pay is not competitive at all, if you are looking for a nice part time job during school this is good. It is not commissioned unless you are full time, though.

Judgmental not a good place to work

I was given a work atire handbook and no matter how hard i tried to fit within that handbook I never seemed to be good enough. I would go to work everyday feeling great and by the end of the day I had low self esteem and felt bullied and not good enough.
