A typical day includes unloading inbound trucks and placing inventory in the morning, and picking delivery trucks in the afternoon/night. It can be very stressful at times to get your work done when there is a lot of receiving and customer pickups throughout the day. Management is disorganized and there can be a lot of favouritism. It's physically demanding and during the summer it can get pretty hot in the warehouse. Also, it's minimum wage pay. Aside from that, the co-workers are what make the job tolerable, you are guaranteed hours since there is a high turnover, and the company is pretty lenient with certain things. You also get a yearly profit sharing bonus which is a plus, but not until you've finished your first full fiscal year. Overall, it's a good place to get warehouse experience if you don't already have any, but if you do, you can find better wages elsewhere.
Points positifs
Co-workers, Hours, No experience needed
Points négatifs
Minimum wage, physically demanding, disorganized management

If you can sell, the pay is amazing. The benefits are also some of the best that I ever had. The hours are gruelling in sales and the management can be stressful. They really have favourites and it shows. Stock is pretty hit or miss so you get angry customers yelling at you.
Points positifs
Great potential for high pay, great benefits
Points négatifs
Long hours, bad managment, angry customers

Training consisted of sitting in front of a computer reading for 5 days. The sales manager didn't involve himself with training at all. You had to rely on the kindness of the other sales people and they were there to make money, not train. Revolving door for sales people and only a few will make it. Managers often sit in offices and chat the day away instead of helping out.
Points positifs
You don't have to look for leads, people walk in the door
Points négatifs
Long hours, poor management

Leon’s is a great place to start out if you’re trying to get into sales, they train you on everything you need to know and plus the staff of very helpful when you have questions. Sales staff works on an turn system so everybody gets a fair shot at making a sale, which minimizes the toxic competition people associate with commission retail. Uncapped commission is also great. However, there are a few things you need to be aware of when you apply. They are a corporation and obviously their goal is to make as much money as possible, but they do a terrible job hiding their greed. They constantly push their insurance and extended warranty plans on customers and that is all the meetings are about. They judge those numbers way more harshly than your furniture sales numbers. You could have a great sales day, miss one warranty and you get called in to the manager’s office the next morning. They pay you less money on appliance sales than they do on furniture. There is also draw on your commissions if you ever have a bad week. You only get paid on delivered sales which normally is not a problem at all but with the pandemic stock is taking months to be delivered, so whatever you sell you’re probably going to be waiting two to three months to get your commission on it, and they have not done anything to change their pay structure. Lastly, and this is my own personal opinion but I found their furniture very ugly. All in all Leon’s is a great place to work, but will you feel like you’re ‘part of the family’? No.
Points positifs
Uncapped commission, great team, three days off per week
Points négatifs
Long hours, draw on commission, ugly furniture

Something you can ways find here is drama. The people working there are so power hungry, would love to not work and wanting to boss people around. The work environment is so negative. If you can find another place, you are better off. You might try and reach top of chain to address your concerns, but nothing ever changes.
Points positifs
Flexible hours
Points négatifs
Everything else

I worked at Leon’s for a short time and in that time I was not trained properly and was also treated poorly by management for making a friend. They let me go telling me it just wasn’t working and it was nothing personal, that I just wasn’t making it pass probation. The managers are immature, the managers and staff don’t know how to train properly, I would not recommend this as a work place.
Points négatifs
Management sucks

I am going to do this in bullet point to keep things simple- no training at all - have to buy own business cards - zero product knowledge training- management not interested in helping- high turnover- the time it takes to get furniture ordered/delivered is insane. The company keeps very little stock so customer walk because takes weeks to get product- Employee Discount - AFTER A YEAR !!
Points positifs
Easy job to get if you need a quick fix.
Points négatifs
Essentially a minimum wage job as you can't get product delivered to make commisssion.

Working at a Leon's furniture store can be a beneficial experience and possible career opportunity for some. My advice to prospective employees would be to do a little groundwork first and find out if the store is Corporate or Franchise. If it is franchise then find out if the owner is someone you can work for. After 9 months of working for a franchise owner who put their profits ahead of all else, and working their employees to exhaustion, I had had enough.
Points positifs
Some of the co-workers can be very nice.
Points négatifs
Shift work that has you working late shifts then early morning shifts next day.

Little to no training, due to the fast Pace in the warehouse safety is not a priority despite having to work at great Heights on a reach truck it's go go go and if you can't keep Pace because your harness has to keep being reattached and you have to move slowly so that you don't fall off then you get penalized for it
Points négatifs
Lack of safety standards

Sales people and delivery people are over worked. Managers and owners never communicated so you are often confused and repeating work. They are Unprofessional at letting people go, they ask staff to not answer out going staffs calls, and say to tell them they are not there. Management then blames other management for being let go.The pay is good and lunch break is an hour long.
Points positifs
Pay is good
Points négatifs
Poor communication

Leon’s home furniture was a nightmare to work for. Their slogan is “part of the family” but as time went on it became apparent that it’s only those In management and sales that are included in that “family”.Management threw me to the wolves my first day, saying I would only be doing part time as I was a student at the time, but it became apparent I was replacing a full time worker and they wouldn’t allow me to move to part time. Consistently harassed by a warehouse supervisor who was downright creepy who kept telling me to drive home with him, and witnessed customer care workers consistently badmouth their elderly customers whose products were understandably broken from sheer bad quality. Furniture was also wasted and thrown away when there was no space in the clearance section, and some employees of the warehouse even suggested donating it to the habitat for humanity store just down the road, but management said no as it was a “waste of time and money”. Honestly these people shouldn’t be in business. Their covid prep was that of a toddler wiping up puke with bare hands and wiping it on a couch. No social distancing, no surface cleaning. Honestly surprised no outbreak was caused. Don’t work here. Ever.
Points positifs
Can easily hide from management in the huge showroom floor
Points négatifs
Extremely long hours, disgusting work environment, power tripping management, overall slimy atmosphere

family owned company doesn't care for employees. Your opinions do not matter. Also, integrity pricing is only for show, they will definitely give you a deal, its who you talk to and how you talk, it matters.
Points positifs
Good commission and benefits
Points négatifs
long retail hours including weekends and holidays.

I worked for Leons in Dartmouth, NS briefly last year at the Front Office. Honestly I loved it. Job was easy enough and for the most part, management and others were friendly. The wage for Front Office is quite low so you end up working with a lot of teenagers, some of them I found not so nice. It was awkward working full shifts and they would barely talk to you lol. If you can get over that small issue, and you're just looking for something part time I think its a great place to work. I had to leave abruptly due to my husbands work, but if they offered full-time hours for Front Office I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Points positifs
Staff lunches, discounts, good atmosphere
Points négatifs
Low wages, a lot of immature younger staff
