Felt like a full member of the team despite still being a student (co-op); gained significant experience in construction management; fast-paced work environment.
Ledcor used to be a good company but its going downhill with no new projects being awarded. Even loosing the work they already had. Management sucks and arrogance at its peak. Constructors division run by people who care about their executive salaries and would lay off people without any warning. Nepotism is at its peak and you would see executives hiring their kids or family at useless positions just sitting on company payroll. No bonuses or even a Christmas card. extremely poor company to work with. No personal development or growth as company doesn't spend a single penny on employees.
poor salary, raise freeze, management suck, nepotism at rise

We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review about working with our Constructors division. To hear that you had a negative experience while working with us is disappointing and not what we strive for as a company.
Good people, needs bit of process management and bit more salary will be great. The team works in hand to hand culture and very positive vibes. Definitely place to work for.
Good people, helping and getting to your professional goal, very supportive and lot of facilities by company as whole
Process streamlining and lack of communication
This review is only for Toronto office. After I joined the office the first few months were extremely bizarre considering how grumpy and unwelcoming the office felt considering other construction companies I worked for. Everyone works their head down, no friendly banter, no small talk or conversation. It was hard even to find someone to ask basic questions regarding a work, history, technology or culture of the company. From day one I was thrown at the work and was expected to perform like I am working in the project for past 6 months. The PM or the Project Director was even reluctant to spend 10 min at the end of the day to knowledge transfer anything.Extremely political and culturally monochromatic. Everyone either pretends or actually so busy to say even hi. I felt extremely lost in the environment who is used to working with great, friendly and nurturing bosses and environment. For the first time I understood what it meant to be culturally not blending in.Stay away if you do not fall in the grumpy, unfriendly category.
Part of a big and established company, Good perks
Unfriendly environment, All work no play.

Very engaging and group oriented. From the estimators to the construction group, everyone was involved for a safe and successful completion of work. Every day there was something different to do. Many different jobs to work on. Great people.
They have very good opportunities to advance if a person takes it Union benefits are good including healthcare and rrsp contributes Paid weekly with competitive wages
If you are female, this organization is ok for entry level positions. However, they rarely ( if ever) promote women to Management or VP level positions. They also discriminate against women and working moms.
Senior leadership is very disrespectful and talks negatively about employees. They promise raises and development but do nothing. Executives only get in trouble when they get caught like when something is in the news. Most of the times they get away with saying and doing things that would never be allowed to done at other places. HR can't be trusted and don't help when you have real problems.
Half days on holiday weekends. United way fund raising events.

Working for LTS in the sales field has been a rollercoaster. Diving headfirst into this career, I have surfaced with more experience in communications and sales than in all my years of work combined. This is a boys club though. As a female, there is minimal support, so it's not for the weak-hearted. However, don't be afraid to roll with the punches and show everyone how successful you can be! This is the most money I've made in my life, the most fun I've had with personal development, and it's glorious to see what your value is.
Free personal development courses, great commission scale
long hours, tough culture
Great company to work for and a great place to learn from others. Had a lot of field experience and have come along way from when i started.
Great work atmosphere. Company culture is amazing and you can really feel the team.
Really long shifts away from home and in camp without rotations.
I decided it was time for a career change as I was burnt out and stressed out as a broker. I landed a job with Ledcor due to a family member. I have moved up very quickly due to initiative, asking a lot of questions and the willingness to work with others. I moved from laborer to Project Coordinator to now being trained as a foreman in the major earth works, civil area. Ledcor has given me a wealth of knowledge in varying aspects of the job. I am definately richer for the experience. It just turns out that I want to be with my family, if I can find appropriate employment.
