Staff and management were very unprofessional and exhibited limited knowledge about working with teens with autism. Staff consistently talked down to children and used physical exercise and isolation as punishment for stimming or other automatic behaviours. Generally, they seemed to be on a power trip and often wanted to exert dominance over the residents through yelling, insults, threatening, etc. Staff were unmotivated to do activities with residents- even a walk around the block was to much of a hassle, so most days were spent inside sitting on the couch. Job description mentioned ABA-based programming, which I never saw during my time there. Please- if you actually care about kids, do not work here.
unprofessional, unethical, hostile work environment
