Great place to work if you enjoy being around children and enjoying the spare time between shifts to pursue personal matters. Management is supportive and compassionate.
The Barrie manager is sloppy in her work probably because she's been at this job for so long. So much turnover here. Disorganization. Will hire anyone and everyone. Not open to change or new ideas.
Bus drivers are nice
There is a definate "team" working together at Landmark Bus Lines. Management keeps the drivers informed through daily/weekly email messages that include a way to respond to certain issues that are on the table at the time. That, along with the open door policy, makes for a higher moral amongst the drivers and that makes for a better workday.
I like working here. If there are issues with the bus, they are quick to get you another one or send out a rescue bus, if there are student issues, they are quick to help with that as well
They have a couple of driver appreciation breakfasts during the year, and a year end BBQ for the drivers, and each driver gets a PC gift card at xmas
being at the bus yard by 6 a.m. in January

This is a good part time job. You get lots of time off with pa days, march break, Christmas break and summer. You are not paid the whole time you are out driving. Buses break down often and shop doesnt always fix it when you take it in. There is a lot that is unpaid and too much messing around.
driving school bus was always fun, picking up the students, driving them to school and back home was really fun and relaxing.and also driving the transit bus meeting all these nice people, having fun with the customers and them joking back with me it was so much fun
great place to work for moms; evenings, weekends, holidays off.. charters are optional, great opportunity to take your little ones on field trips and get paid to enjoy outings together.. although charters aren't always easy to come by, some people are offered more than others. pay rate is fair, but not enough hours.
The job is pretty straight forward, pretty decent place to work if you want a laid back easy environment. Not much room for advancement but overall pretty good place.
A good place to work, I looked forward to coming to work. I was taught how to a School driver a bus, given me my B class, at no charge to me. The management at this location was easily approachable and helpful. However not always open to new ideas. The other drivers were easy to get on with and very helpful if you had a problem with the equipment. Some drivers have been at Landmark Barrie for 15 & 20 years, so that should tell you something about the workplace culture. The hardest part of the job, early mornings and cold, cold buses that don't always start. But there is a great maintenance team here to help. The best part of the job for me was working with special needs children and their parents. Because I had two different jobs here, I had the opportunity to both drive and work with the maintenance department, and both really made my day. day.
People, work environment, job as a whole
No benefits, low pay considering the responsibility, equipment failure.
This is a good job to have if you need work and have preschool children to look after. You can take them with you! Pay grade not enough for what you are responsible for...do you want your kids being transported by someone who makes barely over minimum wage?
Can take your kids with you
not paid enough
Care more about making a profit once you're on the road you're on your own the pay is terrible for the work that you do . If you're close to management, you get lots of charters most buses have defects not fixed
Love the kids and they love you back
Need to pay their drivers what they're worth
