The staff is definitely the best part of working at ksp. Good training and it’s easy to get the hang of things. For the most part customers are polite as well and there are a few regulars.
Great staff, flexible hours, GoodLife fitness discount, 25% store discount, good location, easily accessible by subway, simple dress code
Downtown so no parking
Generally speaking the expectations to get email signups and push sales for no recognition and reward, targets are unrealistic and management will blame staff (or lack thereof) resulting in lack of motivation or confidence. Carrying HUGE ladders across the store and back to access stock above shelves is required MULTIPLE times a shift which is not only exhausting, dangerous, and for smaller and less experienced personnel it isn't practicle to even do and ive witnessed a small girl not only drop a ladder but fall into of it with customers in the vicinity!
Learned alot about products and utilizing them and different techniques, Most staff is really nice, longer lunch breaks
Management is horrible with the exception of a few, management engages in gossip & favoritism, no chance of advancement, no staff incentives, safety is not a priority hazards everywhere, no sense of pride & management also verbalizes their distain resulting in low staff morale
Some of the managers do not know how to speak properly to employees. They have rude attitudes and do not solve issues with customers, they walk away and leave it to the sales associate to deal with. Managers need to work on talking like a decent human being to employees, instead of making them feel bad for asking a question.
Lots of Shifts
Have to stay after your shift ends. Minimum wage and 10 cents increase each year. Ridiculous.
This place gives me the same feeling that of being at home. Not much pressure or stress; come in and follow the managers instructions, and thats all about the job. The best part, you get to meet variety of people and socialise a bit.

I loved my time at Kitchen Stuff Plus. I had amazing friends working there with me, the management was kind and welcoming, and the environment was almost always very positive and upbeat. I learned how to cash out customers, assist them on the floor, stock the inventory and face all of the shelves around the store. the. hardest part of the job was being able to keep up with the endless line during the Christmas season, and how fast paced it all was. the most enjoyable part was successfully helping a customer and being able to work close to my friends. I would recommend anyone to work at Kitchen Stuff Plus if they get the chance.
Snacks and water available in the staff room at all times
In all honesty I did my job to the best of my abilities but i always overworked, not valued being yelled at for no apparent reason by managers coworkers are very immature and managers too. Above all, very unprofessional managers such as the store manager who even yells at employees during covid19 at times like this you would really think they would be grateful for less people doing more work. Got told off because i was wearing a sweater that had a hood but my other coworkers were allowed to wear them because these managers clearly have favorites. very immature coworkers laugh at everything even when someone is in distress.
The employees at Kitchen Stuff Plus were great to work with, and the customers were friendly for the most part. As for management, they are not the best. You are required to be an all-rounder (customer service on the floor, be trained in receiving and as a cashier) for just $14 an hour. After more than two years of working there, I only received a $0.20 raise! The store is an average place to work out but would not recommend, except you like dealing with backstabbing managers.
You learn a lot about Retail with expertise from management. They are so easy to approach & always ready to guide . Workplace culture is very much team oriented. People are supportive & you will have to always on your toes to learn new things , promotions & adopt fast paced .
The management at this place is what makes the job loathsome. There are some friendly staff but there is a culture of favouritism and gossip. Not much growth either, you start as a team member and the most you may get up to in the hierarchy is a cash manager. This place is okay as a first job opportunity but for those that would like progress in their career should consider moving along.
Staff, work culture, pay.
Great people and room for advancement of skills. However, the hours are minimal and sporadic. The scheduling lacks consistency and on-calls are sometimes required. The enjoyment of working at Kitchen stuff Plus depends heavily on the team and work culture which will vary between stores/ regions and amongst management.
Really bad. District managers and corporate just know how to get the work done but never concerned about how lower supervisors are doing. Employees and supervisors are trashed by customers every single day but if something happens where a customer is not happy they will give bad and upsetting remarks on employees and supervisors but if employees are not happy and customer upsets their own business generating employees then management does not even care to reply and hear it. Losing EMPLOYEES NOW BIG TIME!!
