Enough Dirt To Plant a Garden

Filthy environment. Management smoked in warehouse. High turnover rate. Cheap, slave labour. Completely disorganized.Was left to run the warehouse by myself on my 2nd day. Warehouse manager often was nowhere to be found or flirting with the clerk in the office. (Don't know why, he's ugly). Was often yelled at and given passive aggressive remarks when job was left incomplete, which was due to having to deal with customers. Was rarely given the hour lunch break required by law. Honestly, just pour the gas and light a match on the place!

If you like hand bombing absoutly everything go or it.

Job was alright, But you hand bombed trailers full from the ground up then hand bombed your truck then when at the job job site hand bombed it there too. If you where slow because you get sore it was a issue, get told this is a fast pace job.. Didn't have a flat bed or moffet truck. Or it takes you a long time at the job site they say something.. You get a hour lunch but you can never take it if your on the road if you are busy... So you say no and bank it. They get annoyed when you dont but you dont have a choice.

It's not a great job but its not totally bad ether. The primary driver thinks he can do what he wants and does it anyway, with reputations. He thinks the main truck is his. The warehouse manager after a week will think you know it all and lack direction. Expect you to clean and organize the warehouse then tell you its wrong, You make a suggestion on how to improve it tells you its a good idea then says we don't have time but will complain about the warehouse. Then screws off and flirts with staff up front. The warehouse is the worse one of them all in Ontario and needs up keep and cleaning but management are so confused and clueless and wont let you suggest to them anything nor will they get things in place to have product put away properly but if you don't do it you get in trouble.. even tho if you do you will get yelled at anyway. It's a mind screw of a job and you lose motivation fast to do anything based on the 2 guys there..

Awful management out east.

One of the worst places I've ever worked - the management from out east micro-manage every possible thing they can. The HR department is disgusting and does not care about the employees whatsoever.
The pay is decent, but all the stress that comes from upper management is not worth it.
They do NOT provide the training necessary and lose it when a mistake is made due to a lack of knowledge.

Co-workers were great - only portion of the job I enjoyed.

Compagnie qui refuse d'évoluer.

C'est une compagnie qui à pas beaucoup de respect pour les employés, les relations de travail sont plus qu'ordinaire.
Manque de personnelle régulièrement.
Travail très physique.
Et les conditions de travail sont très ordinaire. Refu de donner deux semaines de vacances aux employés l'été.

Overly complicated work for a simple job

Have not been here long, but found a few interesting issues:

Everyone and everything is micromanaged. Every single thing that happens at the branch has about 10 steps and has to be approved by another manager at head office

The systems they use are complicated and all work requires 5 different steps which causes a major loss in productivity doing anything.

Every thing is printed out 3 times and sent to head office so this tale of environmental friendliness is untrue

Nice staff, but this job is tedious and overly complicated for the job needing to be done.

Terrible place to work

Stay away from this company. It is poison and they turn against you quickly. They get what they want out of you and then that’s it. Several employees leave due to the treatment there and trust me Kaycan’s commitments are only about making money and the heck with their employees.

Interviewing for this company made it seem as though this company would be fast paced, full of continued learning and opportunities to excel within the company.

This is a lie..

The branch manager is also head of sales which makes no sense. It creates an unstable work environment and lots of micromanaging. The work is tedious, mind numbing, if you want to sort through hundreds of slips with seven digit codes to make them go in descending order maybe you'll like this. There is no rhyme or reason for most systems. Their computer program is full of glitches and poorly designed.

I would not wish this job on anyone. Oh, there was also no lunch room so I had to eat at the front desk. It's an unpaid half hour but they insisted I work through it.

Beware. This place has such a high turnover rate for a reason..

fun and productive workplace

I always enjoyed going to work knowing it was going to be a good day because after working there a while, you're able to predict what kind of work load you'll have. I learned quite a bit about siding and how material goes up on the house working so close to it. i learned how to properly drive a forklift and how to maintain it running smoothly. Management was good for the most part. The hardest part was not being able to take breaks when there were rushes because customers always come first but i was always able to manage.

They have centralized management fro Eastern Canada and as a result of that they aren't open minded to regional changes to the res of their branches. Management is based on "old-School" model not willing to adjust and evolve with the modern job culture and employee development.

- Very amiable and friendly environment

- Leaders in charge of management ( not strict demanding bosses )

- Very good place to acquire experience in no time

I personally worked at the customer doors, where it could get somewhat tense at times (i.e during the high season), but overall, it is definitely challenging (nothing in life is easy...) and of great responsibility as you are representing the face of the company, but it is easily doable if you are a people's person.

Be carful when accepting a job offer from these guys.
Negotiate a severence package in your contract,
You can and probably will be fired when one of the owners or VP's has a hissy fit.

They talk stratagy but never make a plan with milestones available, a lot of contradicting verbal instructions,.

Supervisors and middle managers constantly have there authority undercut.

Family owned company with all that this entails, Good and BAD.

Brutal Job, Heavy, No Respect, All Lies

Came into Kaycan very excited, left disappointed and sore. Full of empty promises, they DO NOT promote from within. High turnover rate, guys in the warehouse and ladies in the front constantly being let go for no good reason. They will promise you a "raise", give you hope for a promotion, but don't believe a thing they say. Today is my last day at Kaycan, and I must say it was an absolute shot show. Very excited to never work here again, wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for long term work. Your back will thank me later.

Family owned and operated and extremely poorly run.

Management has no idea what to do and is not open to suggestions for improvement from better qualified and experienced people.

The employees are treated badly, which is why the best ones leave.

Don't even consider this place if you're desperate. It's not worth it.

Nepotism is a big problem

It's a family business, and if you're not part of that family, you don't matter.

Even then, they are in constant disagreement with each other and this trickles down to the employees, who are given conflicting instructions from different people.

Stay away. You will not learn anything, and will end up pulling your hair out in frustration.

It's not worth it.
