if you can talk to people and like chasing commissions this is a great place for you, the training is thorough, although there is a lot of politics/drama in the store. if you can separate yourself from that, you should be fine

The company is not doing well and the collections are getting worse but they want their sales associates to sell no matter what. Unbelievably high hourly sales goals, racist culture and poor management. Overall it was the most toxic environment I had to work in.

Horrible systematic racism, favouritism, corporate politics, poor pay. Understaffed, stressful, no value in employees. Will overwork you and not pay you right or appreciate your hard work. Incompetent district manager

this company is always growing and adapting to the needs of the world. everyone I've worked with or in the corporate office are welcoming, encouraging and there to help you. its a really positive place to work and you can be p[aid very well depending how your work ethic is.

Best part of the job was store openings ,processing and organizing all the product.
I learned how to become a positive and supportive leader and learned to collaborate with others on best practices to push sales and product.

Hardest part of the job was my commute to work i live in Niagara falls and drove to Mississauga every day,

The company is ok. There’s no commission.they cut your hrs for no reason. Very pushy to sell, management really doesn’t work with you. Very busy place and at times stressful

it was always busy, the pay isnt that amazing but the girls are amazing there, mangment is a little confused at times, but time goes by really fast and amazing hours attimes

The store is really looking for someone can sell their products aggressively even their products are low-value and overpriced, and the day I went was really slow and dead. I went on an interview with them for a part-time position, people seem like polite but what they really want is to make you sell every minute, ridiculous culture and stupid colleagues as you can smell it at the end of the interview, they want you to work on a minimum wage and expect you to reach sales goal of $350/hour.

hours are null during winter as the store is in an outdoor mall. otherwise store traffic is steady. Minimum wage for warehouse support with no increases. warehouse very crowded

An 8 hour shift with no 15 minute breaks that management refuses to give even with it being in the contract. It's a fast-paced environment with a very competitive atmosphere.

There were no upper store managers when I started and wasn't told this going into the holidays. So I was learning a new high profile role in a very high volume location and therefor I didn't have proper support in store.

You are reminded every day of your daily sales goals, and will be shamed for not making them. The discount is decent (50%) however you are required to always wear at least one kate spade item when you are on the floor. In regards to dress code, anything is fine...if it's kate spade. Everything else has strict guidelines that make it almost impossible for you to not wear branded clothes. Associates are pitted against each other in terms of sales, and your sales can be stolen from you if you do not take your customer up to the cash register.

i had a very bad experience with this company like never before. they have the most poor management. management don't follow the rules but they expect you to follow all the rules. They lie and steal your sale. The pay is so low for the work they require you to do, basiclly they expect you to do everything all the tasks and including washing the washroom with minimum wage.
the employee discount is okay but the quality of their product has became very low for the money they get.

the store is dead quiet and they expect you to stand there and watch the windows or clean at all times.

basically if you ever decided to apply for this job know that you are being hired as a Cleaner not a sales person.

Poor leadership skills throughout the company I was a manager and could not put up with the lack of leadership others would offer for the employees. They beleive leadership is being rude and not letting employees know their rights. Favouritism is a big problem in the company as well.

Great company culture, personal development opportunities, and incentives. Management within and above store level are supportive and encouraging. Would absolutely recommend joining the Kate Spade family.

Kate Spade is a great brand and working for them is no different. There are many perks like incentives, discount, great leadership and kind customers. I particularly love working in the chinook store in Calgary. The team is unlike any where else I have ever worked. The management shows they value you and they’re always very understanding.
The only cons can be a strict availability requirement, a specific range of hours you can work and the technology can often act up taking time away from your customer or day.

The worst part about the job is probably the location, the mall it’s in is only closed 1 day a year (Christmas) and it’s open every single holiday. It makes it tough to have work life balance.

Will always love Kate spade. Things have changed a bit since tapestry took over so everything is going through some growing pains but the company is still really good to the employees. The chinook location is an especially amazing team. Pay is typical for retail but there is room for advancement and loyalty is rewarded. The other perks are also really great. Focus is on quality of customer relationships so you’re encouraged to spend time with people and really get to know them

I had my availability open everyday during the day hoping to work a lot, (the manager did mention the possibility of working up to 40 hrs per week) but ended up working 3.5 hours to 5 hours per day for 3-5 days a week and that is around 20 hours per week(most of the time less than that)

For people who wants hours, this is not the place you go

Amazing place to work, from the management team to the staff, there is very little to no drama - which is great and hard to find in retail... so many positives.

To start off, management is beyond horrible! Not only are they disrespectful and fake, who talk behind your back openly in the back room, but they are also racially biased and discriminatory.

On top of that, they give 5-10 hours per week, when they made false promises during the interview process about giving up to 30 hours a week. Management tries to compete with you in selling despite the fact that they don't make commission, and how they specified that managers were helpful to associates in making commission is totally false.


On top of having a sales goal that is purposefully unrealistic, the management team blames you for not reaching the store goals when it is not up to you if there is traffic or if people like a specific collection.


If you are looking for a job that gives great hours and decent commission you should rethink your options and find a better place to work at.


P.S: The new collections are horrendous and everyone that steps foot into the store runs away.
