Great company to work for! They show how much they value you!
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB15 septembre 2019
Kate Spade is a great brand and working for them is no different. There are many perks like incentives, discount, great leadership and kind customers. I particularly love working in the chinook store in Calgary. The team is unlike any where else I have ever worked. The management shows they value you and they’re always very understanding.
The only cons can be a strict availability requirement, a specific range of hours you can work and the technology can often act up taking time away from your customer or day.

Best place to work
Muse (Ancien employé) –  Calgary, AB28 juillet 2019
Will always love Kate spade. Things have changed a bit since tapestry took over so everything is going through some growing pains but the company is still really good to the employees. The chinook location is an especially amazing team. Pay is typical for retail but there is room for advancement and loyalty is rewarded. The other perks are also really great. Focus is on quality of customer relationships so you’re encouraged to spend time with people and really get to know them

Short shifts (3.5) everyday
Muse (Employé actuel) –  Toronto, ON22 juillet 2019
I had my availability open everyday during the day hoping to work a lot, (the manager did mention the possibility of working up to 40 hrs per week) but ended up working 3.5 hours to 5 hours per day for 3-5 days a week and that is around 20 hours per week(most of the time less than that)

For people who wants hours, this is not the place you go
Points positifs
Great team
Points négatifs
Only managements get the hours

SALES ASSOCIATE (Ancien employé) –  Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON6 juin 2019
Amazing place to work, from the management team to the staff, there is very little to no drama - which is great and hard to find in retail... so many positives.

Biggest regret of my life!!!!!
Muse (Employé actuel) –  Yorkdale, ON12 mars 2019
To start off, management is beyond horrible! Not only are they disrespectful and fake, who talk behind your back openly in the back room, but they are also racially biased and discriminatory.

On top of that, they give 5-10 hours per week, when they made false promises during the interview process about giving up to 30 hours a week. Management tries to compete with you in selling despite the fact that they don't make commission, and how they specified that managers were helpful to associates in making commission is totally false.

On top of having a sales goal that is purposefully unrealistic, the management team blames you for not reaching the store goals when it is not up to you if there is traffic or if people like a specific collection.

If you are looking for a job that gives great hours and decent commission you should rethink your options and find a better place to work at.

P.S: The new collections are horrendous and everyone that steps foot into the store runs away.

Management was disrespectful
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) –  Halton Hills, ON4 février 2019
A few people on the management team are disrespectful and disorganized and displayed racial bias in the hiring process as well as the hours distributed among employees. The training process is not delivered thoroughly which made the transition into the company difficult and disrupting the overall workplace culture.
Points positifs
Kate Spade creates beautiful products
Points négatifs
Work environment is toxic

tiring, unappreciative place to work
CASH LEAD (Employé actuel) –  York, ON3 décembre 2018
Love the company's aesthetic, but working as a sales associate, cashier or stock position in the outlet location is NOT worth it. Management is focused on making money, treated like robots when busy (which is all the time), cliques are formed, favouritism is clear. A typical shift is 9 hours with 1 hour break - not thanked for work done, not allowed to drink from a water bottle in front of customers. Only way to advance is if you have open availability
Points négatifs
Long, 9 hour shifts, impossible to get days off, discount is the same that customers recieve

Over $30 million Store
Supervisor (Ancien employé) –  Hornby, ON10 août 2018
Due to the heavy, heavy amount of traffic and managing a large team- it was always chaotic. Very fun environment to work within at that moment, but not anymore due to alteration in management.

They pay you great to treat you like trash
Supervisor (Ancien employé) –  Vaughan, ON26 juillet 2018
the absolute worst company I have ever worked for.

12 hour shifts, management hides in the back for their supervisor to run the store and of course...anything that goes wrong will be blamed on you.

Recently promoted supervisors with no prior management experience whatsoever talking back to you as if your previous management experience is nothing.

This specific location is not worth your time or effort working for.

Fun atmosphere
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) –  Burnaby, BC25 mars 2018
While working here I learned how to shift gears from a constant fast paced environment to a quieter one and being able to really dedicate my time to helping a customer find what he or she was looking for.

Very fast paced and great team
Sales and Stock (Employé actuel) –  Vaughan, ON10 mars 2018
Overall, Kate Spade was a great place to work. The team gets along with each other well and this leads to bonding as well as an amazing work environment.

A typical day at the store location consists of very high traffic. Many people are coming in too the store to the point where it is overwhelming in some instances but, with our great management and associates, we use it to our benefit to convert it to sales.

At the warehouse or stock location, the traffic is not there but there is always a huge amount of product that needs to be processed and it does tire your body at the end of the day with all the lifting and tearing.

Management was lenient with our personal schedule and would always help to adjust or cover a shift if need be. Also, they are always their to support and go out of their way to make the day, working through their breaks and own time.

My favourite part of the job had to be the team. I made a lot of friends their for life and together I feel we accomplished a lot. I enjoyed my time there but its time to move on and expand my knowledge of retail.
Points positifs
Breaks as needed, Great environment and co-workers
Points négatifs
High paced all the time, Minimum wage even though it is a luxury store

Production Muse (Employé actuel) –  Toronto, ON18 décembre 2017
It was not overwhelming, and the other employers were able to tell me what they wanted me to do and just let me do it without hovering. It was a space where I could learn and excel with my skills and abilities.

Pros
Coworkers are nice.
Employee discount is decent.

Management team has little experience of how to manage.
Schedule does not give out on time.
Management team seems to be slow in responding to emails, picking up phones.
Sometimes people get scheduled after they book days off.
Customers are sometimes rude and it ruins the whole day.
Sometimes they make you live and breath your job, which is very miserable.
Points positifs
Employee discounts
Points négatifs
Bad scheduling, customer expects too much, bad management team

Great place to work
Operations Supervisor (Ancien employé) –  Mississauga, ON20 juillet 2017
Typical day at Kate Spade was processing hand bags that would be delivered to our store. Being at the warehouse location was great as it was a pretty laid back atmosphere with music, but we still got our jobs done

Fun workplace
Sale Associate (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC10 juillet 2017
Good workplace culture mostly on building teamwork and clientele. Involved in stock inventory visuals maintaining the front of the store, also learning to build a client base and hosting various appointments. Involved participating in store events and promotions, loss prevention and training of other store associates.
Points positifs
supportive work environment
Points négatifs
short hours
