Decent pay and perks after 1 year.

Over all decent steady work/income. But like most companies management is lacking. Benefits start right away and profit sharing & PTO after 1 year. Work is very repetitive.

Great Company and People

This is a great company to work for. Most people are collaborative and respectful. The company seems well positioned to continue doing well long-term. Pay and benefits is good. As a large company, there are always challenges with head office being in the US.

The job is easy, everything else is not.

Warehouse working conditions are deplorable. The management team are unprofessional and arguably incapable. Confidentiality is nonexistent amongst supervisors and they relish in the reprimanding and firing of wage workers. Their actions create a hostile work environment as animosity and fear grow amongst the workers. Having a voice and asking questions is not permitted, unless you are okay with losing your job. HR is there to support and protect the company, leaving you powerless as a wage worker. If it were not for the slightly above average warehouse wages, this place would be more of a revolving door than it already is. It's embarrassing to be associated with this company, it's not what it used to be.

No Work/ Life/ Salary Balance

Good pay for 8 hour days but it becomes 10-12 hour days fairly quickly and consistantly without an increase in pay. It can quickly consume your evenings and weekends. Field team is a great group. There is a disconnect between management and everyone else below them in the office.

A great company to build a long term career if you are mobile

John Deere is a highly regarded company with very high corporate morals and a culture of always doing what is right for the customer and for their employees. They do set the bar high for performance and field managers often are required to work well beyond the typical 8 hour work day, so work life balance tends to suffer. It is a difficult company to advance within unless you are prepared to relocate and have an MBA, however the company will pay to get one for employees that are willing to take the challenge. Sr. Management positions in Canada often go to US employees on a ex-pat program. Salaries at John Deere are fair and merit increases are based on a combination of employee and company performance. While Sr. Management opportunities are rare, lateral job change opportunities at the mid manager level are abundant for employees who are willing to relocate and/or change their current job function. Employee morale within the office environment tends to be higher than for home based field managers due to the imbalance in home-work life for field people.

Points positifs

Fair salaries, very nice office environment.

Points négatifs

Poor work life balance for field managers

Great Co-Op experience

Wonderful people and a great company to work for. I consider myself lucky to have spent the eight months of Co-Op in this position. I would absolutely consider going back to John Deere and working with them full time should the opportunity arise.

High Paced and Challenging, but a Safe Work Environment.

The John Deere Parts Division is very high paced environment, challenged with stringent departure times and specific metrics that must be maintained on a daily basis. As a Supervisor of the Parts Division you juggle many balls during your work day and its pinnacle that you're in alignment with your Co-Workers for overall Team success throughout all 3 shifts of the operation. The Senior Management has high expectations from their Supervisors and you're always called upon to do more. My co-workers and staff are excellent to work with. There is really no hard part about my position. From being a Supervisor for 21 years you always have to be prepared for challenges and changes in your work environment. I really enjoy working with people and the challenges it brings to your plate daily. I'm inspired when you're successful and you meet goals that you achieve with your staff.

Points positifs

Clean work environment

Points négatifs

Long hours - 24-7 availability.

Very transparent real time employee, sections, shifts evaluation system.

A typical day at work starts with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) peer to peer inspection, followed by supervisor to employee. After PPE inspections, all employees log in for a 15 minute update briefings which includes the previous day's summary performance, safety reports and feedbacks, the day's expected workload and an overall deployment and execution plan. This is followed by a 5 minutes stretching period before logging for various cost accounting activities. I learned the optimal teamwork, and optimum resource utilization where all activities are neatly fishbone planned, time controlled and carefully dovetailed into the logistics and distribution schedules. I highly rate the management to be the best I have worked under in my entire career. They are very supportive and have developed an inbuilt all inclusive continuous improvement structures with planned milestone commitments. Monthly feedback statics and performance highlights with revised targets are given on the last Thursday of the month without failure. Co-workers have an amazing bond, willing to help and complimenting each other to improve the shift score chart. The hardest part of the job is within the first few weeks of the job.
