Overall great place to work!

The staff at IG are great people. This was a part-time administrative assistant position so the hourly pay was not what hoped for but the position fit for where I was personally at the time (family). No benefits received in this position. I worked 16 hours per week. No room for advancement unless looking for a complete job change as an Investment Advisor.

Productive and unique environment

- a typical day of work consisted of managing calls, going through folders, and mostly doing assistant work - got to manage a few portfolios and was able to create a few financial plans

great place to work at a few years ago and will hopefully get back to it's former glory

IG is currently a very difficult environment to work in. with constant layoffs and managers who work remotely from Toronto, there is no connection to workers in Winnipeg.

constantly changing

Since my return to IG I have experience the pay/compensation structure has changed each year since 2013 and pays less each year. 2020 will pay approximately 30% less for the same work results as 2019. eg) $100,000 mutual fund sales in 2013 would yield a $4500 commission and today it will yield a $1100 commission but in 2020 it will yield only $750.

Meh

It’s a typical commission job. It gives you the opportunity to make huge bank, however at the same time if you don’t work you don’t get paid. It’s not for everybody, sheep should not be working here.

Great work environment with great support from our leaders. Need to be consistent in your work in order to develop your career with the company. Overall great experience.

Excellent opportunity

I learned a lot about various financial products and this knowkedge helped me build my own portfolio. I would like to learn a lot more. Personally I feel that the company has a very rich culture and is philanthropic and supports new recruits. I still have a great relationship with my superior and have tremendous respect. I thoroughly enjoyed my seminars where i was mentored and left greatly motivated

Interesting job, good training

Nice trainings every week, picnic for employers, however , the very same tasks and pay depends on your direct employer -consultant. No benefits, no paid vaacations. A lot of new info and knwledge.

Company is not what it used to be

Only place you can be a janitor one day and a mutual fund sales person the next. Company as a whole is suffering. Expected to sell over priced, under performing product.

If you are a person who is looking to build a foundation for your financial planing career this is the place that you should work for, especially the senior advisors they are awesome

Great People and Work Environment

Great office and group of people. Everyone is very helpful and not scared to lend a hand to help you learn your job or with a new technique. Typical day consisted of creating reports, accounting, organizing internal and external training sessions, organizing client and prospect events for the region, supporting the management team, and a lot of other little things that would help the region run smoothly.

Choose Your Branch.

Lots of changes , archaic systems - Busy changing them but now its a difficult place to work . Tedious paper based only now rolling out electronic systems , inexperienced management.

Horrible place to work

The workplace culture is terrible. Staff constantly breaks rules and are rewarded for it. Nepotism runs deep within the office. Advisors constantly talk behind each others backs. Toxic work culture. They only care about the money not about the clients

This has been for several decades the premier financial planning company in Canada. Training and development has always been the strength of IG. Opportunities exist for anyone who has initiative and work ethic. It is unlike any other financial company in Canada.
