Worse job ever.....
Claims Assistant (Ancien employé) –  Campbell River, BC17 septembre 2019
Was hired as a claims assistant and told many things.... that I would have contact with people coming in.... etc. turns out all you do all day long and you are micro managed and watched.... is input and pay bills for icbc for practitioners and they have you on a quota eventually. Work stations are beyond archaic.... had terrible wrist and should problems after a short time.... they won't do anything about it until off probation so you suffer. Get up to use the washroom and someone quizzes you....as to where you are going. Breaks are timed and you better not be late....management was brutal. Not in the office and absolutely brutal. This is by far the worst job I have ever had.....I highly recommend people stay away from applying to this job. You will hate it.... so mindless and mind numbingly boring and micromanaged. Wage is terrible.

Great company...
Driver Examiner II (Employé actuel) –  Pitt Meadows, BC2 septembre 2019
Great family type atmosphere. Management is great...very supportive. Benefits are good but the pay is low...very low. Hourly rate looks good on paper but after the restricted hours of work (7.5) and all the deductions...take home is barely livable if you don't live under a bridge.

Great place to work. Fun & progressive
Claims Support Assistant (Ancien employé) –  Richmond, BC5 août 2019
The ICBC Richmond Claims office is a great place to work. Management cares about each and every employee. The ability to progressively improve and expand your skills is available.
The office culture is fun with seasonal events and surprise pop-up treats from management. There is a social club that employees are open to join.
Staff support and help each other whenever needed.
A truly caring and inclusive work environment.
Points positifs
Great benefit package, advancement opportunities, management cares

Steady job
INSURANCE CUSTOMER SERVICE (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC28 juin 2019
Call centre job.
Need to adhere to call stats.
There are rules set in place when it comes to dress code & eating at desks for example, yet certain departments are a lot more slack then other stricter departments...which can be frustrating.

Job itself is ok.
Points positifs
Paid time off days, union, pension
Points négatifs
Nit picky management, contradictory, salary quite low when cost of living in Vancouver so high

Very outdated hierarchy
Research Assistant (Ancien employé) –  Surrey, BC9 juin 2019
Management is switched around after a while to make sure they aren't "friends" with the department and can chop heads of anyone that isn't a mindless slave. This company needs to stop existing, as many people know.. automated vehicles and TransLink should help.

Misleading Interviews and Promises
Legal (Employé actuel) –  Greater Vancouver, BC13 avril 2019
Without giving too much information as to disclose my identity, I was essentially mislead by the HR staff and managers who grossly misrepresented the position, benefits and ability to advance during the interview/hiring process. If you accept a position, be sure to get everything in writing before leaving your current position. Otherwise you may have some unpleasant surprises.
Points positifs
Good holidays and shorter workdays than in the private sector.
Points négatifs
Salaries are generally below market, "Merit" is a foreign concept (this is a pro if you want to do the bare minimum and keep your job)

Extremely poor company culture
Injury adjuster (Ancien employé) –  Surrey, BC6 avril 2019
The job itself is very stressful and busy. You basically deal with a lot of liars. You can’t say much but to compensate them because ICBC doesn’t want clients to go to lawyers. This company is in big trouble. Time to dismiss this crown corporation.

People are stuck here because they have no where else to go. If you’re young, leave as early as you can. Orthereise, you’re stuck here forever.

A great organization that could do much better with a more thoughtful management.
Legal Counsel II (Employé actuel) –  Surrey, BC2 avril 2019
The management and workplace culture at the Gateway, Surrey office (which has the largest concentration of lawyers in the organization) leave much to be desired. Everyone is overworked and rarely appreciated. Salary compensation and career advancement opportunities are almost always given out by management on an arbitrary basis.

Nice place to work but Managers suck.
DTVI Rep (Ancien employé) –  North Vancouver, BC21 février 2019
all in all working at ICBC wasnt that bad, the employees were great, lots of nice work spaces and a pretty decent cafeteria (at the head office) but the some of the managers were mirco managers, which made it a little uncomfortable. And everything you do is clocked to the second which was a little stressful.
Points positifs
Union, decent pay.
Points négatifs
bad rep with public

Horrible place to work
Claims Support Assistant (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver Island, BC5 janvier 2019
I was hired as a Claims Support Assistant. I didn't do a thing that was listed in my job description other than greet the very odd person at the front counter. I was at a claims centre that didn't actually take claims in person so very few people coming in yet they have a full time long standing receptionist who doesn't do anything else. (Seems weird she doesn't have to do the boring data entry also) Extremely mundane job, no chance for advancement, management was non existant and of no help- no manager in the building, pay was bad, benefits were good. Horrible old office furniture, zero ergonomics which leads to repetition injuries as job was simply only data entry, nothing else, zero for 8 hours a day (they don't tell you this when they hire you). A good job if you don't care about sitting and staring at a single monitor all day paying vendor bills and very rigid hours and breaks. Zero flexibility. Holiday picks are a joke and very competitive, you will never ever get xmas time off. Worst job ever.

work place drama
Claim Services Assistant (Ancien employé) –  Coquitlam, BC14 décembre 2018
too much work place drama and questionable management and turn over rate.

learned not to trust management.

you can't correct anyone if they are wrong or they consider it rude and management will write you up. this is why the company is consider a fire dumpster.

too many middle management all you need is one manager to put the schedule down, I mean the manager never did your job or know enough about it.

hardest part of the job is dealing if drama at work.

the most enjoyable part is the 4 days off after.
Points positifs
four day on four day off for work schedule
Points négatifs
workplace drama, and questionable management
