IBM Canada is one of the best organization where you can enjoy working and be proud of. IBM provide you lots of opportunities to grow your skills and climb the ladder.
Growth, Skills improvment, flexible
IBM has been trough many changes and puts their employees through them too almost every quarter. If you get on a solid path that is great but if you're in a group that is struggling with identity you will get caught in the crossfire..... Management varies but mine had no concept of employee skills and how to match with the correct job. They don't care about personal work/life balance and the humanity is missing.
Nice package of benefits.
Management and ability to listen
People are the most valuable asset in any corporation. With close to a half million active IBM'ers around the world you will be simply amazed but the variety of skilled, experienced, driven people in the organization. The most diverse company I have ever seen, IBM has lead diversity in the workplace to the point where is should be recognized as a gold standard in this regard. IBM has been involved in so much of what we take for granted in modern society that it would hard to comprehend a world without it. But of course in this age of technology you have to change - fast. This requirement to change quickly is the most important aspect of IBM's survival and relevance moving forward. IBM really does not have 1 single direct competitor, it really competes with just about everyone, just as it partners with those same organizations. This is a delicate balance that is difficult to do well or consistently. It's not all roses of course. With an organization of this size - both in people and capabilities, consistency is a big issue. Kind of like a very large orchestra - but one spread out over many venues and countries. It's very difficult to execute consistently across all venues. So what is beautiful music in one business unit in one country may be a terrible noisy mess in another. This pliability of the organization makes it difficult to change with speed. Speed, or lack of it, is what kills off organizations today. To it's credit, IBM knows it has a problem and communicates its well but inertia is hard to change. The really hard decisions with regards to compensation, - plus...

About what you would expect from a corporation. Work hard to gain as much experience. Cannot complain of the flexibility in terms of work location and hours. Sadly, compensation is lacking.
Great for gaining experience
Excellent work life balance, decent salary but highly bureaucratic in terms of work.Flexible timing, encouraged to think, innovate and work from home option as per requirement.
Work life balance, work ambiance, management
Bureaucratic in terms of work assignment
The middle management is absolutely lost. If they keep paying these guys inflated salaries to pretend to work the company is doomed. A lot of productive and amazing young blood are held back the opportunity to progress. They also hire mostly contractors now a days and tend to rarely hire people. If you're desperate for a job go work there a couple years and get it on your CV. If you can tolerate it here long enough other employers will take notice.
Coworkers are amazing. Never worked with such amazing people, even in other departments.
Slave, salary, raises, middle management, hours
Environment is nice for sure, I just find that there's no opportunities like they say they have. I can't complain about the shifts and benefits cause that is very good. But I need experience and IBM doesn't really seem to be able to give it to me.
I worked at IBM full-time (Less than a year) Pros Co workers and supervisors are amiable, and understanding to the needs of others. Company provides good benefits to its employees. Cons Night Shift, not all agents are nocturnal. Advice to Management Please have more job opportunities that have Dayshift as well.
Pros : Good friendship between Consultants. Cons : PM controlling the project activities only Friday afternoon at 4pm, as a consequence last minute OT and weekend work, meaningless Saturday and Sunday meetings. Negative Work/Life balance, No compensation, Bonus is only a dream, Terrible Service Desk help.. worse of my entire job experience. 18 days passed one VPN problem resolve ! Upper management checking only how many job IBM got 10 Mio and above, they have no idea about why client is not satisfied from job and leaving IBM contracts. If you are a good professional, PM is adding more job as logarithmic but, no backup of your position.
Typical Manager driven company. Good for Beginners, but if you want your career to be taken to next level. Then definitely move out of it. They do have a good work from home option.
Work from Home
Poor Compensation and Benefits.
- Enjoy working with highly competent group of technologists. - Collaboration and communication with management is pretty good.- Working from home from time to time.
Highly competent management
They let a lot of their employees go and gave their positions to workers in India, for a fraction of the salary in Toronto. They do not care if you have a family.
they have a few restaurants offering food in the Steeles-Pharmacy location
never know how long you will be employed there
Bonne compagnie pour évolution professionnelle, dans une grande compagnie internationale
Our medium-sized business was acquired by IBM about 20 years ago. I stayed with the company until I saw that many of our jobs were getting outsourced, and I was becoming disillusioned with the tech industry. After I left even more downsizing had occurred and it is now a shell of its former self.
Competitive wages and benefits
No work-life balance
