Manager could be better and good. More competitive salary could be given to staff and the way bonus ae shared is something so annoying because those who do the main work only get crubs

great work and life balance, and according to the employees' satisfactory rate of the company, it totally depends on the team you are in. If you have a good boss, maybe it is very great.

Nice company love to work here. everyone was nice and friendly. I enjoy everyday working here. there was free snack and food. I really loved working here.

The IBM Ottawa Lab is an amazing place to work and I would recommend it to any of my friends. You are given immense freedom and trust to complete your work (without micro-managing). The people are great and the office is a very relaxing place.

Lots of room to move up and laterally and learn many new skills. Great pay, great work-life balance. They gave lots of free snacks, there are free fitness classes, flexible hours, I had a cubicle but I could just go work somewhere else if I felt like it.

If you can get hired by IBM then you could likely get hired by Amazon or some other big tech company. Why bother with IBM at that point? Somebody like Amazon has far more cachet than IBM, and you will be working with Java / Open Source either way. It's an OK place to work. You won't love it, but it's just ok. Very bureaucratic, but you do get lots of regular feedback so that's good.

big company with a lot of internal politics and red flags which prevent you as a developer fully release your potential and be much more efficient... the wages are ok

Lots of off time with little to no progression on projects. Projects are badly broken up and daily agile "scrums" last an hour. Team members are knowledgeable but not used to full potential.

Typical day begins with a stand-up meeting to go over current progress and ongoing tasks/issues and/or demos. Team had multiple managers and seemed to progress like molasses. As always there were a few interesting and fun people to work with alongside multiple non-interesting drones. Hardest part about the job was staying motivated and interested in the project. Software seemed incredibly boring to the average individual and was highly specialized/geared towards management staff. Most enjoyable part about the job was working with those team members who were friendly and outgoing.

one can learn a lot of technical things in the company, but innovation here is very limited.Hardest part of the work is trying to make innovation as this will make senior people out of the comfort zone.

Q1Labs Fredericton (Now IBM) is a corporate company with a start-up culture. Most people are friendly and intelligent. Management is outgoing and helpful, but the work can be monotonous and boring at times, especially if you are involved in QA. Investigative work and core development is the most exciting and rewarding.

IBM culture was relaxed. I was able to work comfortably while also enjoying their pool table at lunch time. I would recommend this company to a friend looking for an internship.

Start the day by starting Lotus Notes. Read through the hundred or so emails. Then fire up Putty terminal and start coding. Daily meeting is around lunch.

-Multiple locations on any single day. -Free all day breakfast while on TSX (then TSE) premises -Good management and positive attitude of employees led to productive environment. -Hardest part of job : Detail visual inspection of all software for potential Y2K issues. -Best part of the job was the satisfaction of knowing that all will be good come year 2000. The elaborate all day breakfast. Being surrounded by wonderful hardworking employees.

This company provides employees with all the resources necessary to learn and develop their skills while building friendly, professional relationships with peers. At times the culture can seem competitive, because the company is staffed with some high achievers, but this is what helps to maintain the company's high performance culture that you will find to be a point of pride. I would recommend that new hires begin their career here, then take time to explore other companies or to get a graduate degree. The company expects you to continuously develop yourself and then rewards you for doing so.
