My direct managers and daily co-workers were all pretty fantastic. Senior Management was disconnected and only communicated to make unrealistic demands, heaped on the last list. Workload was extremely underestimated, and working models were changed to try to fit poorly integrated systems. This ultimately cause failures in SLA's and loss of contracts with dissatisfied accounts. Then, layoffs began and less people were left with more work. You get the picture. Senior Management didn't care about anything that wasn't on their spreadsheet and going toward their bonus.
Great pay, great benefits.
Lack of helpful or constructive senior leadership
Start at 9 am, off at 6pm by my own initiative. I developed & learned that I have very good remote work habits. Management turn-over was consistently every 18 months. Work place culture was for most part good, but when disrupters existed in the group, Management did not seem to address these problems, forcing me to deal with them as a peer worker. The job was easy. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was providing customer service and the resulting customer service feedback.
Work from home and a back office operation.
No advancement, no pay raises & companies lack of customer service.
Great atmosphere & good people to work with. Plenty of work to stay busy. Never a dull moment & wonderful flexibility within the workplace to help with busy scheduls

First 4 years I worked in a office setting. It was a very productive environment with kitchen facility and friendly people. Management was outstanding. Next 7 years I worked form home. I learned to work with my co-workers from all across the world while being at home.
Working from Home, Paid Holidays and No Weekends
Time went by fast on a typical day always stayed busy, management was very nice, helpful, the workplace culture was good, the hardest part would be not have a bigger computer screen, enjoyable part was the management, coworkers. If the job was a temp-to-hire and they were closing the Tulsa office I would've accepted the position if they would have asked.
IBM is a reputable name. However, if you work outside their core business, opportunities are lacking.
I enjoyed oil and gas accounting. IBM allows flexibility but depends on your manager. Inconsistent in applying the flexible work location guidelines. Salaries were benchmarked against industry in general and not specific to actual work. Grossly underpaid. Main issue with IBM was the fact they had a contract to do oil and gas accounting as an outsourcing contract but they did not pay consistent with other oil and gas accounting professionals thus there was constant turnover which made it difficult on those left to perform the work. Otherwise, IBM is a reputable company and there were many things I did like about it.
There are some good managers at IBM, I've been lucky and had a couple of them. Co-workers are great. IBM has no loyalty to employee's. Staff is more often then not spread to thin. One employee responsible for one off tasks that causes a problem when he/she leaves the company.
Constant threat of being laid off, staff spread to thin, unless you are in one of there darling departments forget about performance based incentives.
IBM offers good career opportunities with competitive benefits and perks. However the business consulting branch of the company has not been well positioned to acquire and retain clients. Limited funding and resources has resulted in understaffing which has in turn resulted in reduced quality of services to the clients.
Competetive pay, benefits and opportunities
Company will not hesitate to exercise resource actions to maintain profits.
I worked in a specialized area of IBM and was not exposed to the overall company culture. From my limited experience IBM is a good company to work for and offers many areas of growth opportunity.
Tight knit group.
Not able to interact with anyone outside my group.
The pay is not competitive with other oil & gas companies, most especially since they only do the primary accounting for Marathon Oil company. Sad really that they think of the executives before the employees who actually do the work to give them the high salaries and bonus' they give themselves.
The work environment in my sector of IBM is dismal. It doesn't seem IBM is selling this function anymore. IBM is focused on other services. Once work is gone,, then this site will be closed.
Not being pushed as a product.
