God awful place to work for
Customer Service Representative (Ancien employé) –  Lethbridge, AB15 novembre 2019
The manager was not suitable for her position as she did not know how to manage and was more geared towards making friends then finding valuable employees that had a lot of experience and product knowledge. I took the hardest section in the store and took a lot of pride in keeping it stocked and clean so that pet parents could find what they needed easily and efficiently. That went unseen and unrecognized over and over and when I did get recognized for section of the month twice before I left they refused to give me my gift card or whatever they had given all other employees that had won. I was also belittled for the fact that I bought my dogs food their before I left and when she developed a sensitivity to an ingredient a month and half later they refused to take the food back (unopened and Not damaged) They allow other employees to gang up with team “leads” to take out employees that they feel don’t follow what they think and whom they just don’t like. This is a horrible company to work for and would never recommend anyone subject themselves to the work place harassment and abuse from management, leads and other employees that are friends with each other.

Not worth the stress or mental toll
Assistant Manager (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton, AB2 novembre 2019
I worked for this company for just over one year. At first I loved the store, the people were great and for so long I just couldn't grasp why people didn't like it as much as me.
After being promoted I came to realize just how poorly run this company is. Here are some examples:
- HR is not in the business of HR. When bringing forward concerns regarding health and safety, staff's well being and a member of management who was mentally abusive to many, we were labelled as dramatic, negative or both.
- They fix their problems by doing mass firings of those that disagree with them. Whether or not that leaves the team to completely fail is not a concern to them, so long as they no longer have employees to call out questionable actions/decisions.
- They are a family run business, which in many ways is wonderful, however, they refuse to recognize or accept when a family member is in the wrong. They also refuse to listen to others ideas because of this and mostly view it as "there's no way my *insert family member here* doesn't have the best idea"
- Any criticism of the store manager will be deflected onto you and if you have an issue with it, you are once again labelled as negative and dramatic.
- There is no such thing as confidentiality. I knew numerous times that someone was going to be reprimanded, written up or fired days before it was happening and I know I am not the only one.

My advice: swallow your pride. Accept that you are not always in the right, recognize that consistently changing your team doesn't do anything, but upset customers and cause insane training costs
plus... for new members you'll inevitably fire. Recognize that you're expecting $20 an hour work for minimum wage. For the love of god just take care of your team. Whether you will ever admit it or not, they work so hard for you, you could at least start to work hard for them.  moins

Probably the worst place I’ve ever worked.
Guest Service Representative (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton, AB16 octobre 2019
Worked at the south location, management was incredibly rude and abrasive to guest service representatives. I felt like I was being talked to more like I was a naughty 8 year old as opposed to an adult. Training was not comprehensive enough for the amount of stuff you need to know to work independently and management would become very visibly frustrated with you if you needed clarity on something. GSRs also could not speak to each other on the floor and would be quickly reprimanded for doing so. But floor leads would walk around the store together and you could often overhear them talking trash about all the other staff members. In the month and a half that I was there I saw 5 people quit, 6 including myself. Clearly they haven’t solved their problems because they have new ads for hire almost every week.

Nobody seems to get past the probation period.
Sales Representative (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton, AB10 octobre 2019
there is no communication between head office and staff. Yet there is even no communication between staff assistant managers and managers so it’s basically chickens running around with their heads cut off. “ leaders” who are supposed to create comfortable working environments are extremely rude and end up making people leave due to they way they all talk to new hires.

Communication
Store Leader (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton, AB8 octobre 2019
Communication from head office which is literally a flight of stairs away is a major problem along with the consistency of what your being told. Fast growing company with massive people expectations a which are not modelled by upper leadership

Fun Environment, Poor Upper Management
Guest Service Representative (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton, AB27 avril 2019
Not worth the mental toll. Managers get away with being rude, when the concerns are brought up to higher management there is a lack of concern or any compassion until there is a constant annoyance to them, to which the issue is partially fixed then ignored again.

Busy, Fun Workplace
Warehouse Manager (Ancien employé) –  Red Deer26 avril 2016
I loved working here. Not only was it great hours but the staff were lovely and I was always busy. I have a heavily weighted role in the store, the staff were very compliant with anything I put into place or instructed them to do. It was a great team to be apart of and help grow. I was only there a short time, but in that time I got a lot of organising and sorting done as well as make some new friends.
Points positifs
great work hours
Points négatifs
warehouse needed a lot of organising
