I have worked for Hollyburn services for a number of years now. Started as a practicum student and was hired shortly afterwards. The work is challenging and not for everyone, working with some of the most challenging children and youth. The teams are supportive, supervisors are approachable and management works hard to support.
I find that commited and hard working people are given opportunities to grow. Lots of opportunity for in house and external training.
There have definitely been hard times and difficult situations but I think staying commitment helps.
Good coworkers, pay is competitive, medical and dental, rrsp contributions, training, CARF acredited
Would highly recommend to those newly entering the field. Relief work allows you to work in all the homes and programs - I was able to attend all the orientations & therefore work full-time hours. Gained many references and connections through Hollyburn.
Overall great company as they do help lots of clients there, but never accept any accounting position in this company unless you want to end up being one of future clients of Hollyburn. During couple months of working there I saw several accounting/payroll professionals come and go and all of them complaining that Director of Finance doesn't have basics of ethical communication. No matter how good you are, you will end up leaving the job with lowered self esteem.
