Awful management. Stressful job, overworked and sometimes you don’t even have time for a break. Constantly forced to do overtime even if you have commitments after work and management doesn’t give adequate notice. Not a nice work environment, everyone here is miserable.
Enjoyed my job at Holiday Inn, wages were fair for piece rate and it wasn't bad work. Chose to quit due to a room cleaner that became upset that I was almost a good of cleaner as they were and personally went to my work cart and moved my items, relocated my cart and they still went to my cart to take my items. Our manager did very little to stop them because they were the top cleaner.

We work as a team in Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Nobody complains about extra work. If anybody fell behind for some reason some day, other girl went to her rooms to lend a hand. No one asks the girls to do so, it is like a convention in the hotel, and everybody follows it. Awesome!
Not many people have a life time goal as a housekeeper, they are only there because there's no other option or disability, lets be real. There's no benefit. The only plus is if you have a great manager. I was lucky enough to really like just my manager, but I disliked everything else.
long hours or no hours, pay, gossip, belittling supervisor. repition wear and tear equals pains in your body.etc
Oakville Center location has some of the worst management ever. They favour employees, they will hate on you the second you do anything wrong. There is barely any air conditioning in the building and you must wear dress pants and a uniform shirt with a black shirt under it at all times. There were many times I told my manager I felt sick from heat exhaustion and they didn’t care. I would work for 8 hours straight with no breaks some days. Many nights I had to take hot baths to soothe my aching feet and legs. This job will make you depressed.
You probably won’t ever be fired

Kind staff and coworkers. This job is not for slackers, demand to meet time quotas that're incredibly difficult to reach. Management was accommodating and organized. Physically exhausting, very repetitive, I hope you like radio music because it will be your new best friend.
free lunch provided each day
schedule changes day to day (8 hour day can turn into 10)
I would sometimes clean rooms and sometimes inspect other housekeepers rooms. I made and kept many good friends while working there Housekeeping in general is a very strenuous job
the people I met while working there
Learned a lot about using different products for cleaning. Working with different cultures and respect for each. The hardest part of some days were cleaning party rooms. But the best part was the end result of cleaning them.
Job pays off by meeting great people.
cleaning behind dis respectful people
I met new people of different cultures. On a regular day rooms need to be cleaned and beds need to be made, every now and then guests ask me questions to where find places nearby. I believe my experience was appreciated when hired.
Awful place to work. No appreciation, terrible pay with no benefits. Owner is greedy for money, but wont pay a reasonable wage. Hard work, lots of rooms to complete daily.
Could leave when you were done
low pay, awful management, no benefits
Typical day was cleaning 12-18 rooms, bathrooms, kitchen's (in suites that contained them) and stocked all bathroom materials. I have learned how to make hotel beds and how clean the rooms have to be due to the inspections by the bosses. Workplace Culture was fast-paced. Hardest Part was being very quick on cleaning and not forgetting any bathroom materials. Enjoyable Part was hearing how clean the room is after it is cleaned.
The staff was great to work with and an overall great work environment. The hardest part of the job because it is a hotel was the expectation to be available all year round including weekends and holidays which can be difficult with young children in daycare, but I made it work.
i start work early in the morning and finish my shift around 5:30 pm The way they pay us is not fair.I get paid by how many bed we make.If i don't make 17 beds in my whole shift , they won't pay me full time. Which is not right. They were expected to pay me full time regardless of how may beds i make. I think the management is not good. I always work 8hrs
get paid by how many bed you make, not by how many hour you work. I think this is not fair the employees. They exploit us
