Poor management who believe no human dignity. They want it to hire slaves. Once you work there don't expect they will raise your salary by a single penny. No work ethics and doesn't have job security. Awful experience. I will not recommend to anyone.
If you are looking to gain experience, you can work at small hotels like the Holiday Inn. No room for advancement, managers come and go. In my 1st year working, the hotel has gone through 3 managers in a span of only 6 months. I have no complaints with the people I work with as everyone does get along regardless of race and culture.

I loved working at the Holiday Inn Deer Lake. The staff were amazing. I worked a lot of overnights, and had to commute 40 minutes on the TCH from Corner Brook. The drive became too much to handle. Salary was okay, but there were no benefits.
As a night auditor I didn't initially get much direction or input from management beyond the bare necessities of training. After a week of being shown how to enter information and edit it for the books, I was left by myself on overnights, largely unsupported. When I was promoted to Manager on Duty during the day, the interactions and direction was more meaningful, and direct, making for a better experience, though longer hours.
Start shifts with closing cash and payments received during the day, after closing billing, run end of day reports. there after start a new day with setting up breakfast. checking in people and checking out. assisting and guiding.management is friendly and supportive. hardest part is to stay awake at night.

Night Auditor positions
A typical day at work is very fast paced and people orientated! In this job I get to meet lots of people from around the world whether it be for business or pleasure, new guests, or ones who have been coming for years, its always enjoyable to hear interesting stories and get to know people and give them the best experience possible with our business. I also get to do lots of paper work and balancing of accounts, data entry and end of day reports. There can be a heavy work load at times but can always be made manageable to be completed on time. The hardest part of my job is problem solving, I always have to be fixing problems whether it be via accounts and paper work or dealing with guest issues and complaints. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to fix those problems and leave my manager and guests happy with the outcome and way it was resolved, to me there is no better feeling then doing the job right the first time and to the best of my ability.
Friendly enjoyable work environment.
Dealing with complaints and issues on a daily basis.

The wages and benefits are very good, if you qualify for full time but the management there needs works. There is absolutely no accountability for the multitudes of people who do not perform their jobs which leaves the few good employees frustrated. The under performing employees stay for 5, 10, or 15 years while the good ones quickly leave. There is a culture of doing as little as possible there and mangement does nothing about it. Apply here only if you are willing to end every day frustrated with your co workers or are also lazy.

management does not do their jobs, culture of laziness
I liked the job, and every job has it's downs. You will always run into a guest that either loves or hates you. The one thing I have to say that is a really downer about this job is the owners. No offense to them, but they are cheap to the point of "why do I work here?" There are no benefits at all, the only plus side is full time and the co-workers are great.
I got fulltime
No way to advance, no benifits, and the owners are cheap
I learned a bunch on the job, and it really keeps you on your feet. Working night audit makes the job a lot more difficult, especially on weekends. The job itself isn't very pleasant, but the management and staff are excellent and keep you motivated. A day at work included accounting most of all, as there was a lot of paperwork and report organizing. Regardless, I would get around 3 hours of downtime in which I could relax for a little bit unless a guest is in need. The only issue is the hours, as night shift ruins your sleep schedule and it couldn't work with me and school.
Long hours, tough shift, a lot of paperwork
