Was hired as First cook ..but always used as. A sous chef ...poorly run hotel....beat thing was sister properties offered discounts which i used fair amount of time. Lots of stress because poorly run A two - three star hotel chain..and overall experience sums it up.
Regional manager told every staff member they were replaceable. Does not value the hard work put in by employees in the kitchen. Hours cut back to entice staff to quit. Many have. Chef shows up drunk in kitchen. Husband was blamed for something happening and recieved a verbal warning even though he wasn't working when incident happened.
This was probably the best place I have ever been employed at. Great benefits. Very positive work people. Awesome co workers, and I very quick fast paced work environment, which is the type of setting I love working in.

opportunity to be creative in regards to specials, management works with you and listens and makes you part of the process work as team it can get slow so sometimes you have to go looking for something to do.
they value you as employee

Typical day: Go! go! go...! Go hard go long! What I learned: How to delegate. Management: A bit abrasive but get the job dun. Co-workers: Mostly hard working but need a little urging. The hardest part of the job: Closing down after a long hard day. Most enjoyable part of the day: Enjoying the company of my co-workers after it is all over.
