A huge negative impact once the property was sold. Morale declined, wages did not comensurate with experience, disrespectful management to both staff & guests.
Wages, condescending Managers
You're very underpaid and overworked. I think it varies on which hotel you choose to work at as I have worked at 2 Holiday Inn's. The first one was corporate owned and they were amazing to their employee's. The second was family run and was a great place to work when I first started, since the pandemic it has quickly become run down and overall dangerous.
It is a great place to work at. Your normal day would vary depending on which department you work in. It a very collaborative environment and everyone is always willing to help. Great opportunity for advancement if you are looking for it.
No appreciation whatsoever for the efforts and hard work one puts in at this property. No breaks, all talk and no implementation. Stressful atmosphere, people are happy to throw you under the bus and pass the buck to everyone else .

Enjoyed meeting guests from all over. The interaction was very pleasurable. Checking guests in on their arrival to checking guests out on their departure. Co workers made working very enjoyable. All departments were helpful and courteous.
Very fast paced and every shift brings a different set of challenges. Rarely a chance for boredom. It’s fun to be an ambassador for your hometown, to tell tourists about the hidden gems of the city that can’t be found on a web search and you really get to know your regulars. The desk staff are positive and get along great. It’s a Unionized environment so shifting is based on seniority. Management genuinely cares about their staff and tries very hard to accommodate their individual needs. They work alongside their team during peak business hours and are only a text away if a question arises after hours. Company promotes from within. This job is challenging but rewarding. It’s not for everyone. If you enjoy customer service, a fast pace, problem solving, and a wide variety of tasks, this is the place for you.

The workplace culture is very good. The management is very patient and understanding. It has been a great pleasure for me to be a part of this company.
another job where you meet people from all walks of life and from all areas from around the world. Co-workers are great. Hockey season is BUSY. Assistant General Manager is great, very easy to get along with, flexible schedules, she is amazing.
Most of the people at the company are great, and joined the company because they want to work for a place that makes a difference. The benefits are okay, and the company supports the idea of work-life balance.
Good place to work at for students. Fun atmosphere. You deal with a lot of different personalities of guests. Need to be a friendly outgoing person with a tough back bone.
Soup and bread usually in break room for any employee
co-workers are nice, management is great. Very enjoyable place to work. Work load is reasonable. Every other Tuesday we get free dinner. Another great thing is it is close to my house.
work hour timings
Working in a hotel is a very satisfying experience, since you get to meet so many people from all over the world, and you get to learn about many different cultures. The days can vary, depending on how busy the hotel is, and can be quite stressful & demanding, whereby one has to be able to multitask, and do a lot of different tasks, such as answer phones, make reservations, check in and out guests, etc. all in the same time frame.
meeting, interacting, & providing great service to guests
shiftwork-weekdays, weekends, overnights, holidays (365 days a year)
A typical day at work is a professional fun and helpful atmosphere. There is open communication between employees and constructive criticism is used for the purpose of functionality in the office. I have learned communication and constructive criticism is essential when learning a job because it helps everyone meet expectations of management. I enjoy an upbeat non judgemental work place culture where everyone gets along and appreciates each others jobs. The hardest part of work is when you don't feel like you belong. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with happy and helpful co-workers and knowing your job well enough that you feel helpful to those that you support in the work place.
