Very enjoyable.
Sales Associate (Employé actuel) - Mississauga, ON - 24 décembre 2021
Working at H&M is very fun. You meet good people and it’s all about team work. The managers are great and you can really feel a sense of family when you are there.

This place was alright. Their goal is pretty bold. Fast-paced and a lot of work for what you're getting paid really.
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Yorkdale, ON - 19 décembre 2021
People are great, but management was kind of off cause they get so many managers coming and going. Closing sucks but it was alright since everyone helps.

Good place to work
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Mississauga, ON - 13 décembre 2021
Managers were very sweet and understanding. It's a fun place to work and not that stressful. Easy to learn and rotating shifts. Coworkers and managers were there to help. New employees will easily learn the system.
Points positifs
Schedule Flexibility
Points négatifs
Pay doesn't increase

Super Fast Paced
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Toronto, ON - 12 novembre 2021
It's super fast paced. Little to no room to grow at the company. Barely any raises. Make you feel guilty for calling in sick. They do give you great training so you're well prepared.
Points positifs
Great Training. Somewhat flexible with schedule
Points négatifs
terrible management. No raises or room to grow

Like Working in a Sweatshop
Sales Associate (Employé actuel) - Burnaby, BC - 9 novembre 2021
This job requires high efficiency for cumbersome and menial tasks. It consists of processing (tagging and hanging clothes), running (bringing clothes from the warehouse/fitting rooms/returns to the floor), store cleanliness and cash point sales. Customer service is very much the lowest priority as employees are unable to balance the workload while still tending to customer needs. Management is shoddy at best. The general manager in particular is condescending, jaded and toxic. It is made clear very early on that respect is earned through slaving yourself away at the job. While management and senior/tenured employees view anything but the best as examples of incompetence and laziness, it is difficult and taxing to give 110% to a minimum wage job while being degraded. H&M has no problem promoting themselves as "conscious" while they destroy the environment with mass production. They routinely exploit their workers in third-world countries and it is no different in Canada. Shifts are often intentionally set at just under 5 hours to ensure employees are not given a break, and taking breaks outside of your lunch is not only discouraged but even punishable. Hours aren't any better, as you rarely get scheduled for a conventional shift or 8-hour ones. The one redeeming quality about H&M is your fellow sales advisors. You struggle, but at least you struggle together. There are certainly some interesting characters you'll meet and friends you might make along the way. Who knew purgatory could bring so many people together?

Decent place to work, Heavily depends on Management
SALES ASSOCIATE (Ancien employé) - Ottawa, ON - 26 août 2021
Fun employees and great location. Management was pretty terrible and would constantly make your shifts more stressful. Getting hours during off-seasons is also difficult. Employee discount isn't so bad since it applies to sale items too (You'll always know when the nice items are bout to go on sale). They also give you call in shifts which pretty much steal your day since you'll be waiting to see if you get a call and once it looks like you won't be getting called and start planning your day they will call you 30min before the shift starts to come in.
Points positifs
Meet interesting people, employee discount
Points négatifs
Hours are bad, Management

Postes : Sales AssociateFun place to Work but not many benefits
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Vancouver, BC - 18 août 2021
H&M is very popular and so it is a busy place to work, the associates have a lot to do and it is very fast paced. It’s very inclusive and diverse which was one of my favourite things about working there. Management can get bad at times but if you have good relations with everyone you are respected. Pay is minimum wage with no bonuses or benefits for part time employees. Warehouse staff should get paid more but they don’t. It’s a good place to start in retail but you should move up to places that pay better once you have sufficient experience.

it’s an ok place to work.
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Edmonton, AB - 16 août 2021
if you don’t “fit in” with the staff who have been there longer, they make you feel like you don’t belong and aren’t welcoming. hours suck unless you work there in december, they give priority hours to anyone who’s been there the longest even if they’re part time staff.
Points positifs
good discount
Points négatifs
not enough shifts to make it worth it

Pickering
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Pickering, ON - 25 juillet 2021
Call back was by “Seniority” but most older staff did not get called back until the newer staff did. Have people “training” others but are not qualified or trained themselves to do it. Main Store manager, has favourites & you can see the divide between people. Otherwise the job is straightforward, but expect to do ALOT more for minimum wage.

Discount
Points négatifs
Management, Hours, Little pay

Horrible workplace
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Montréal, QC - 18 juin 2021
I promise you guys, don't work here. The absolute worst and toxic work environment. Managers talk behind your back, employees talk behind your back. Useless, inexperienced, and two-faced managers that talk about you to other employees. They demand WAY too much for a minimum wage job. Don't even think about messing up because they fire you once you do with no valid reasoning. Horrible horrible work environment. DON'T WORK HERE. It's not worth it.
Points positifs
employee discount
Points négatifs
everything else

Awful Experience Overall
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Pointe-Claire, QC - 2 juin 2021
Where do I begin? It was a terrible experience in general. The interview process was quite simple, but off putting due to the unprofessionalism of the department managers, such as inappropriate vocabulary, criticizing one's personal life, setting up an incredibly late start date, pressuring you into quitting your old job, and disapproving of peoples availabilities- pressuring you to take more hours than what you may be capable of handling. If you have a friend that works at the store you plan on applying to, don't bother, they won't consider you as a possible candidate or fire you soon after hiring you. The management was incredibly disorganized with online training and with preparing name tags and the employee card. They were very judgmental and scrutinized everything you did- so much for "we are one team", right? Teammates are meant to help one another and give each other tips on how to perform well, however, they don't tell you whether if you are doing something wrong, and continuously give you praise for the work you do, but then suddenly let you go an hour before your shift begins. If you were to briefly converse with your fellow associates on your first day of training in order to get to know them, your time at H&M will be short-lived, given how they don't want NEW associates to socialize with one another whatsoever when on the floor, but are fine with older employees when it comes to hugging, excessive conversations, and laziness, such as leaving tables messy and ignoring garments that have fallen on the floor. Another thing, at the specific store I was working at, there -
Points positifs
Discount, that's literally it. Nothing else to it.
Points négatifs
The schedule they give you is useless given how they'll secretly sign you up for random shifts, so you have to call in the morning to find out if you have work that day, toxic work environment, disorganized, terrible and rude management, NOT open minded

Bad management and low wage competitive
Sales Associate (Part-time) (Ancien employé) - Vancouver, BC - 31 mars 2021
I work as a sales advisor for 4 months, it was underpaid, the environment is nice with friends but it was long hours of standing, service, management team don't care about employee, just sit in the office. The wage is not worth it if you are looking for a job to live on.
Points positifs
friendly
Points négatifs
Long hours

Always opportunities to learn and advance with your peers. If you tell management that there is something you want to work on or develop knowledge in, they will do anything to make it happen.

great job for students but don't expect a raise
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Burnaby, BC - 23 janvier 2021
This job is extremely fast paced, customers can be extremely rude, management does not do enough to make sure their employees feel respected. The hardest part of the job is 100% how crazy it gets on busy days, be prepared to be on the till for 4 hours straight on holidays. The best part is how close you get with your coworkers, it's what keeps you going on those terrible days. Hours are super flexible. Post-covid though, they usually only schedule people for 4 hour shifts, which can be good for students, bad if you're trying to make ends meet. Worked here for almost 2 years and haven't gotten a raise because of how insane head office is. Only work here if ur desperate, or just in need of experience.
Points positifs
free food on holidays, 60 dollar gift card at christmas
Points négatifs
head office, customers treat you like you are a servant

Agressive culture and bad trainning
Sales Associate (Ancien employé) - Richmond, BC - 3 août 2020
They give you the worst training, especially for the cash area. Also, they did not contact me ahead of time to know the specifics for the training online even tho I called them many times. Overall they are messy and the pay is even worse.
