bad politics within the workplace - a lot of favouritism within the workplace, the general manager was known for belittle the employees who were minorities and that made it very uncomfortable for myself and other
The company is very cheap so you will get the short end of the stick here no matter what position you are in. I’ve seen store managers going through unfair treatment. Sales Advisors are often not having enough hours or being overworked when they are at the store. Lack of proper training, and questionable upper management. The discount is average and there are perks occasionally, but I would try looking somewhere else if you can. They do not appreciate you nor do they care for you as family like they say. I’m disappointed to say that the coworkers was the best part of a job. I feel like I should have learned more skills.
Upper management, Lack of Resources (Time, Money, People)
My experience has been on the positive side. Each hour you are assigned a different station, such as cash, or fitting rooms, or the floor - and this really helps with getting bored or burnt-out. You can also be scheduled for a truck shift, where you process incoming garments, and for this you are in the back - sometimes though, they ask you to come out onto the floor to 'support' which is really annoying. I recommend making friends with your coworkers as soon as possible. If not, you will be left out of 'the loop' and work will be boring and miserable. One of the only saving graces of working there are the friends I get to see. Management sucked when I first started, hours all over the place, disorganized, some people flat out rude. However, things are getting better and I hope that hours will be more balanced and I will feel like I can actually talk to management about any issues/concerns I have.
Friendly atmosphere, Fair breaks
Long hours BUT only for certain employees, disorganized
I’ve been working at H&M since September 2019 and I absolutely love it! Everyone Is so friendly and helpful, it’s a fun and easy place to work, and it’s very relaxed. There’s also lots of room to learn and grow/advance. The only downside is there’s not a lot of hours for part timers (most I’ve gotten is about 25 hours in a week, but I typically only get about 12) its also very easygoing and management isn’t very understanding

I have started last year it is my best experience to work with nice And friendly environment. Management is very good with all employees Understanding, problem solving....thanks h&m
Improved my skills of customer service, knowledge gained in terms of fashion and customers need.
H&M has amazing co-workers, but the management is not well ran. All the management does is tell the workers what they are doing wrong and sit in the office and don't help out their staff. This is very active job and you are always doing something.
I started working here in the summer and ended when my school did. It was an awesome place to work. If you can bear customer service and handle people really well I highly recommend it. They just had the one of the funnest work places.
Working in the Mens/Divided department of H&M at the Georgian Mall means you're most likely going to be working alone, as it's on the floor beneath the Hennes department. It has its positives and negatives; there's plenty of work to keep you busy but long stretches of working all alone can give you flashbacks of Cast Away. Part of working alone for years in the Divided department helped teach me time management, as I was essentially responsible for an entire floor. A closing shift meant that I had to maintain the image of the store, engage customers in a helpful and friendly way, and juggle closing cash registers in a timely manner.
H&M is a great company to work for, don't get me wrong, working in a fast paced retail environment, having great colleagues, but there's one thing that I believe is a critical blow to the overall success of certain locations, it's that the managers are not all completely on the same pages when it comes to certain issues.
this job is perfect for students who don't have bills to pay. very flexible hours, no strict dress code, honestly this job is not bad at all the only thing is that you will have to deal with manager's favorites and a fast-pace environment.
Easy days off, paid vacations, free food sometimes, employee discount, the staff
stressful for no reason, no respect of schedule when it comes to closing the store, rude management
Working at H&M was okay, I felt that management was not flexible with hours and did not contribute to a healthy work/life balance. The people were great but I do not recommend working here if you are a student with early morning cl
Long closing shifts
I have worked at H&M for three years and each year has been a rollercoster. My first year we had an evil manager that threatened employees with write ups for things that weren’t even ruled. She made up her own rules and pinned employees against each other. It took a full year for higher ups to fire her. We’ve had long periods of time where we did not have a real store manager. They preach wanting to hire from within but refused to hire a store manager from within our store. I was never clear on what my job description was and what the rules were that I had to follow. Overall I think H&M as a company does not care about their employees as much as they like to make people think. I never felt listened too as an employee.
Sometimes snacks, good friends
Bad pay, bad management, bad company
Possibly it was just my management, but they were rude, too open about things in their personal lives, and very hard on all the employees. More calm managers would make jokes to sales advisors about how we couldn't talk to each other on the floor. Managers would say we are a family, but would talk behind employees backs, never recognize them for the good work and career advancements were handed out to the overly friendly and very anxious.
Free lunches on busy weekends, snacks, fun coworkers
The management is very hard to speak to. I was not given a pay for a whole month because they didn't submit my check information in time and blamed it on me. the hours are very bad, will always be different. They will give you 7 days to work in a row (4hour shifts) then not give you a single shift for a week. A lot of work for what you get paid, really not worth it. always expect to stay overtime if working till closing (can take you up to 1-2 hours to clean and run store).
