Friendly people. Hard work and extreme professionalism needed. You never can seat down. Great discounts. No room to grow for a part time employee Learned a lot about retail but after a year I was not learning anymore.

the more i think about my time at h&m the more i realize how mistreated i was.

i spent less than a year at my store and i knew no security, no trust, and no stability. 1) it was an incredibly toxic work environment. my managers went behind each others backs and moved me into different departments without informing one another. they switched my shifts to earlier times at the last minute without telling me and then berated me when i would come in late. i once got written up for this exact reason, and it was not my fault. the whole operation felt like high school, and there’d be cliques in certain departments that were incredibly rude and the managers fed into this superiority complex. they did not care about departments like men’s and kids because they made less money than the women’s. 2) blatant disrespect towards employees. again, with the scheduling, they constantly changed people’s shifts without telling them, and be careful if you annoyed a manager because there go your hours for the week. it is incredibly difficult to integrate there as most people are cold and not helpful. if a manager doesn’t like you, it is incredibly apparent and they target you. some managers also do not know how to do their own jobs and just aimlessly boss people around. they hired people that refused to do their jobs properly without question, but constantly attacked people with seniority. of course i made my own friends whom i love and still have after quitting, but i cannot believe what i was subjected to at this store. it was a good job on the sense of getting a very good retail experience, but it’s not worth it for how awful the management is, and how toxic the environment -

Really fun staff

The staff here were the best. My managers and co-workers were so chill and nice. The only bad part of this jo for me was the pay(minium wage). I made some really nice friends here.

No work-life balance

Company is an absolute disaster. No work-life balance at all. They are all about “growth” even though no one gets promoted. Externals get paid 10000x more than internals.

Co-workers make it fun, but it is still quite demanding

In this position, you will learn how to maintain a clean store, assist customers in locating items/giving personal opinions on items, get new products onto the floor, and work with a P.O.S. system. Most of the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they help make being overscheduled/long shifts a bit more bearable. Aside from the relationships that you can make with your colleagues, the only other good thing is the 25% discount (which still might be pushing it!)The main cons of this job are just a combination of inconsiderate customers, understaffing, and poor management.

Points positifs

staff discount, co-workers

Points négatifs

long hours

It was okay, good for students

It is good for students, management was OK sometimes but sometimes they would make things a little bit stressful and you can make a lot of good friends here, better for younger people.Min wage.

Points positifs

Meet a lot of good people, food parties, good work life balance, great for students

Points négatifs

A lot of communication issues with management, minimum wage

Fun and supportive place to work while in school

Great place to start when you don't have many experiences. During my time working there, my managers were supportive and helpful. The store gets very busy at some points, causing longer time for a closing shift.

Points positifs

Employee discount

Points négatifs

Less grow opportunities

Fast paced and stressful

Great place for a first job, lots of opportunities to advance to management. Stressful atmosphere as the store gets super busy. Most tasks involve cleaning, fitting room + cash functions.

Points positifs

Coworkers

Points négatifs

Busy

If you want experience, take it but it’s not worthy

A very fast-paced environment which you literally have to pay full attention to every detail that they train from the first week. However, you won’t get trained for everything, gotta learn from the floor and from other peers. Managers are nice, protective and helpful, but they’re rude sometimes. Co-workers are really sweet, but if the store gets busy, expect that you’ll be complained or reminded which leads to frustration. The one good thing about working here is that you can manage your salary because you can give away or take over shifts. But mostly, I got frustrated with how some other peers asking us to stay when we’re supposed to be done, they show no appreciation. And they should get 2 people in the fits instead of just 1 because customers dump items on the table all the time (and the managers get angry when the table is messy).

not bad

co-workers were great and some managers. most of the managers and visual managers were rude and expected you to do their job without bonus pay. never had holidays off so be prepared to be scheduled

Fun workplace with great co-workers

The job itself can get overwhelming at times, since there is a lot too do and it gets busy. You will typically be trained to cover all functions, like cash, fitting rooms and maintaining sales floor so the work day is dynamic and doesn't get too boring. Co-workers make the job awesome.

fast paced and productive with lots of responsibility

your experience largely depends on your location and coworkers. busier stores like mine can be very fast paced and stressful to work in but overall not difficult especially if you know what you are doing and are with a productive team.one thing i noticed was the clear bias toward male employees, who only get assigned in the mens department and are not expected to perform as well anywhere else, whereas most female employees are supposed to be well versed and flexible in all of the departments. if there are several male employees, it’s automatically a given that they will all be assigned to the mens department even if other departments need staff.

Points positifs

fun coworkers, lots of hours, good benefits and bonuses

Points négatifs

high turnover rate, stressful during peak times, bias towards male employees

Fast paced but great co-workers

Very fast paced work environment. Expect non-stop flow of customers that brings big mess. Lots of patience is needed as a sale associate. Had a great time with co-workers that what makes it the best.

Fun and young employees

Work on shifts, diversity employees, no benefit for part-time position. You can get discount for staff, sometimes it is very good discount. That is a fast-pace work place.

Points positifs

Discount for staff, diversity employees

Points négatifs

Fast-pace environment

Fun place to work

Typical shifts can range from really slow and relaxed to busy and fast-paced depending on the day. Hours and scheduling were also really flexible so it's great if you're a student. Managers and other co-workers were all really nice and friendly.

Competitive with memberships

Management will give you trouble if you can’t get a good membership %. Customers often get upset with cashiers for pushing memberships and expired online returns. Easy enough job, busy at times and stressful.

Points positifs

Nice coworkers

Points négatifs

Bad discount only 25%

Repetitive

So much favoritism. They don’t really care much about you if you aren’t part of the group friends of the managers. They have high expectations for something that they can’t even do.

Good temporary job if you want to make a lot of money

I worked here for the summer and it was okay. It's overwhelming and busy all the time and customers will always yell at you for stupid reasons. Sometimes the manager will defend you or make you look stupid by giving into the customer it depends on the manager. They're so inflexible with hours, trying to get days off is genuinely impossible they just won't let you. Coworkers are nice but it's pretty cliquey and you have to dress nice and trendy or else people won't talk to you. Honestly, you would think that with all the people working there, you wouldn't work that much, no. I worked way more than I wanted. Overall it was okay, but just be wary.

Points positifs

Nice coworkers, lots of hours

Points négatifs

Poor management, inflexible hours, overwhelming, busy

Great Environment

Great place to work. Really love the culture. Sometimes their is a lack of focus but I think the same can be said for any retailer. Really enjoyed the store manager.

Typical minimum wage retail job

Just a typical minimum wage retail job. You put up with rudeness and disrespectful behaviour from customers, and aren’t viewed as anything other than a number in a time clock. You can do better, trust me.

Points positifs

Easy to be hired

Points négatifs

“We need to boost our membership conversion”
