Depends on the department
If you worked as a sales associate who worked in the back yes. However if you do not own a pair they usually can lend you some until you wish to get your own.
You will be working with heavy equipment.
Operation of pallet jacks and other back end equipment requires steel toed shoes or boots. Having a pair would be an asset when applying for merchandising and back room receiving positions. Cashiers may be able to get by without them, but I would recommend getting a pair to keep in your locker so you are more flexible if needed on the floor.
