Electrical Technician (Ancien employé) – Waterloo, ON – 27 mai 2019
unqualified management including project mangers. Social activities strongly encouraged. Lots of emphasis on BBQ and free snacks. Not much technical time spent on projects. Project management wastes a lot of the budget and very little chargeable engineering hours for technical aspects. Principals say one thing and do another. Wannabe engineering company.
Very low pay, Zero appreciation for jr staff members, no sense of social or team atmosphere
Jr inspector, geo tech (Ancien employé) – Toronto, ON – 28 décembre 2018
I worked for GHD for a little over 2 years. There is little to no recognition for going above and beyond the very mundane tasks given to jr staff. Because of this, advancement within the company feels unlikely. There is extremely little to no interaction with upper level managment, resulting in employees feeling secluded and under appreciated. The workplace environment would be ideal for someone who enjoys working independently while being around other people. My time at the Missassuaga, Ontario Office was overwhelmingly difficult due to the constant language barriers. My direct superiors didnt know my name and called me the wrong name for the first 3 months. It was very difficult to have pride in your work and show pride of ownership in this atmosphere. The entire lab space was consistently a mess and unsafe; a result of poor management and zero sense of ownership and pride felt among staff. I do not recommend this company to anyone. My experience led me to leave industry.
Many, no sense of teamwork, no ownership, little to no room for advancement
Geomatics Technician (Ancien employé) – Mississauga, ON – 31 mai 2018
Starting a career is great with GHD as there are many opportunities in a variety of fields. The same goes to finishing a career as you will have opportunities to own shares in the company. The worst place to be is mid career as it's very difficult to move up without basically killing yourself and having no life outside of work. Work/life balance is terrible in the company and raises, most years, are max 3% but on average ~1%.
Stage en traduction (Ancien employé) – Montréal, QC – 8 janvier 2018
Great peer culture in a productive environment with great flexibility in terms of work hours. Safety and health were very important and demonstrated that the company values its employees above everything else.
Health and safety measure and free social activities.
Construction Inspector (Ancien employé) – Mississauga, ON – 5 mai 2017
I had been employed by GHD for a summer internships as a junior construction inspector. while employed i was tasked with many different responsibilities through which i was able to gain so much valuable experience.
Junior Engineering Technologist (Ancien employé) – Waterloo, ON – 5 avril 2017
GHD was a wonderful work environment. Everyone was treated equally, with the attitude that regardless of what position you held, you were important. Benefits are great. Coworkers are friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Intermediate field technician (Ancien employé) – Whitby, ON – 22 mars 2017
Good place to work. management is lacking, you will have to work out everything for yourself, total lack of support from supervisors. on a positive note. If you can handle working alone and enjoy driving a lot then its a good place to be
We run full-steam ahead! Always on the go, with work piling up quickly. Learned to prioritize certain projects with time-sensitive issues versus last minute rushes and emergencies. Management .... we were recently purchased by an international company; many staff are uncertain of what the future holds for the company and their employees. Toughest part of the job is stress associated with making sure everything gets out in a timely fashion to suit the clients needs. And the best part is the employees and the camaraderie we share, getting the work done.
