Nice place to work with the professional environment and other benefits including free perks. The management is nice and cooperative. I have learned a lot from here.

Unprofessionalism and aggressiveness coming from exec team. They are constantly fighting and pushing this stress to vp's, where it then trickles down to the managers and employees.

mais il y a des équipes dans lesquelles les pratiques sont inacceptables, incluant du harcèlement psychologique. Tant que le propriétaire / CEO ne veut pas voir l'évidence et ne se pose pas de questions sur la haute rotation d'employés, la place continuera d'être toxique pour beaucoup.

Lack of security of the job, always under stress that will lose the job, poor integration, enclave spirit of small groups and difficult to penetrate. The managers dismiss people under mood, in same way that they hire them. Totally lack of professionalism. Gossips about other groups in company and former employees.
Not worth to take the risk despise the facade advantages. Those advantages could be found in other places. Worst treatment that I had in my more of 10 years of career.

Only if you want a bad experience.

Junior team leader leading us nowhere, who makes his technological choices based on what his "best pal" in the team tells him, pal who appears to be the biggest toxic incompetent rookie ever.

Project doomed from the beginning. Nobody takes you warnings into account.


One week you're praised by your manager for your good job regardless despite how bad the project was lead and you're welcomed again in "the great Genetec family", the next week, after one more manager change, you're fired because some executive is infuriated by how the project is going...


Management does not give a single clue about employees, you will always be nothing more than a production resource, easily flushable.

Management look like they have no idea where the company should be going, improv club with nice cars and expensive suits.


The company makes money on existing cutomers and have no future vision.


Bad management, toxic people, the salaries and benefits are quite good to try to keep people from running away, but just have a look at how high the turnover is.


If you are a rookie or a not so good developer looking for a job with poor opportunities but with a bit higher salary, if you have no team spirit and don't give a clue about the company you work for and only go to work for the money, this is a place for you.

Genetec is a nice company to work for. They take care of employees and is doing very well. Communication could be improved, but overall a solid company.

Genetec is a fast growing company and rightfully so. The CEO and founder of this company is one of a kind and cares deeply about the work that this company is doing. This has created a very exciting, challenging, and team oriented working environment.

Amazing company to work for, the people, the culture and the products are amazing.
Typical work day is 8 hours but can be longer

Management is amazing
Enjoy working for Genetec if the travel wasn't the issue I would not be looking to leave.

Every level 1 techs are overloaded with work and doing too much multitasking. You gotta do the shift for after hours for long time and you have to stay at night if you get a call even 1 min before your shifts ends. And if you come late next morning then you get a warning. Management is there to make your life difficult and threatening you to put you outside.There must be a reason there is always hiring in a Technical support department. After worked in Technical support department for a year i am out for good.

A bunch of YES people and crony senior management
Worse management ever seen in a high tech company ..
TV is an old projection belonging to a museum not a high tech company .

Food is cheap but repetitive and will clog your arteries!!

I loved working at Genetec for most of my time there. The people were great, the corporate culture very pro-employee, and I learned a whole slew of technologies in my day to day life at the company.

The product is solid and has rightfully earned its place amongst the market leaders, and while the company has grown, it still had the start up feel in many of the aspects.
It was easy to know people in most department and never too difficult to get the ear of anyone, including management. Year end bonuses and gifts were also very generous.

The start up feel unfortunately also worked as a negative. Most people who changed positions did so laterally as opposed to truly being promoted, or it was only a minor promotion. There was a feeling that there was a glass ceiling that internal employees who came in after the core group could never break - their work is very appreciated, but not necessarily to contribute in further ways to the company's growth, even though they might have passionately wanted to. As such, a lot of the leads were either (young) longer time employees or more experienced people from the outside, and if you aren't perceived to be able to do more, you will not be promoted no matter the qualification.


Salary was average for the position, though the year-end bonus helps boost it into very acceptable territory the more years you spend at the company. As mentioned above, it was career mobility which was more hamstrung.


That being said, I have heard that the company has started to review its salaries and career path, so it may have gotten better.
