great besides management

ive worked at this particular location for quite some time and almost everyone who worked here when i first came has quit, MANY have left due to how toxic the workplace has become. This is the fault of the head manager who is so obsessed with making money that she chooses to treat her employees as well as assistant managers like stupid robots. Ever since the new head manager was hired the work environment has become incredibly degrading. No one is excited to come to work due to the constant negative remarks coming from the managers. they will make a fuss over how slow youre going but cant even do the job themselves which is ridiculous. the workers are great and truly are very supportive but it does not make up for just how immature the management is. They want the environment to be like a family but the managers are the ones who are the issue and create unnecessary competition and drama.

Good place

If you are looking for your first job or something extra while you are at school it's a good place. Management is good but the assistant manager is very annoying. Great teamwork and job environment

-slow-paced but productive. -teamwork - 3 hours to 8-hour shifts - Different job opportunities available like cashier, sales associate, fitting room expert and shipment work.

Management needs updating

Decent first job, the other sales associates are great, and the discount is good but management is terrible. Giving your availability is useless because the general manager will give you any shifts without consideration of the individual and their time and effort, shifts are scheduled with no care of the actual employees. At first I thought the job was pretty good, and a pretty average retail job, however I always felt that whatever I did, and I was not alone in this feeling, but nothing was ever good enough to please the gm and the gm would get mad if things were not exactly how the gm had planned them to go. I learned a lot from the job and am appreciative of the experience, and as a first retail job it is decent, however I also feel that in talking to people working at different retail jobs in fairview, that the way employees are treated, after a certain extent it gets frustrating. Also after working there for more than a year and also doing more for the store than the newer employees that were recently hired, I would have hoped to be getting paid a little more than the new employees who do half of the tasks the older employees do.

Fun Workplace

Management at the time was great. Fun, flexible and worked according to your schedule. It all depends who you work with, and if they can make the workplace fun.

producitve workplace

Constantly you have to be willing to work and with a preppy attitude. On busy days, you'll feel stressed because there is a lot to do but on slow days, it was okay. Wish management was a little bit more lenient but okay

fun team, but difficult to balance with lifestyle

Working at the Gap made me realize how important meeting daily goals is and how to interact and deal with customers. It also showed me how to be a team player and to get along with my co-workers. The best part about working at Gap is the team. The hardest part about working at gap, is the hours and the inconsistency of hours given each week. It is either to short or too long. Other than that, it is a great place to work.

Productive

Great place to work, fun and productive. Something new is always going on, so it keeps you on your toes. Every day is not the same, so there's always something new, but after a while you get used to the daily pattern and flow.

it was alright

it was alright working at gap, not much else to say. if you're naturally just a shy person i guess the job isn't really for you then, cause you're gonna have to do a lot of talking

A Fun place

the atmosphere is kept light and fun at GAP with a focus on training and education. your ideas are heard and often implemented. if you and to be a person, not just a number, start here

Comfortable work environment

Gap is a good start into retail with flexible hours. Great management and sales team makes it a great place to work. Easy to learn and pick up the basics of retail.

i love my job it was good.

i only want to change the job is its to far. Otherwise i loved my job all my co-workeres were so good. we use to work hard and even have fun .help each other.

Busy workplace with good coworkers

This is one of the better jobs I have had. Great coworkers, sweet discount (50%). The one major downside is that because Gap has a higher price point than somewhere like Old Navy (even though it's run by the same people), it attracts lots of richer people. I once had a woman come in looking for a winter jacket to replace her 2 y/o daughters Prada winter coat! Hardest part of this job is keeping your cool with entitled and impossible customers, as well as some of the early start shifts (for restocking the floor, starts around 6am).

good people you work with, fun and flexible. just couldnt stay longer because of school. if you dont reach the sale target some managers will be a little difficult about it but eh thats normal

Overall Decent

At first glance, it is a perfect job. Typically get the hours you want, asking the manager is all you really need to move positions (same base pay). Younger staff, personable people. The job starts weighing harder on you a few months in. Managers can be flaky and unhelpful at times, and while they are often doing their best, they can only do so much to salvage a dying company. Furthermore, Sometimes managers like to pull rank on each other, which makes things difficult in higher stress situations. Often, I would show up to work and they'd cut shifts that didn't need to be cut, often leaving two people to handle a busy days' cleanup just to meet comp. On special promotion days and holidays, managers would get food for the staff, which was nice. Customers are the worst part of the job, as to be expected. Often, managers will bend company policy without explaining them to the customer, so it reflects horribly on regular staff, who now look stubborn and uninformed. Pay is increased based on performance, but seasonal employees make a higher base and often are asked to stay, and are often not the most competent workers, leaving lower payed and overall better employees doing most of the work. Pay is also not scaled, so if minimum wage increases, no matter what your current salary is, it will not increase with it, which feels like a wage loss. Not a horrible place to work if you have ins with managers, but it gets draining and monotonous (even if every day is a new experience, it's usually a cookie cutter bad one with customers). Also has one of the best discounts a retail -

Management

Fun time with nice people, but what I'm disappointed is when you have to reach the Head Office, it's really hard to understand what they are saying at the phone and reach the good person. Also, when i quite the Job, it took a months and half to had my last pay check and pay stub, and i never had my T4 for my tax return.
