Good retail experience, pushy mgmt

Worked at a Gap Factory, it was pretty chill minus the constant pressure to force customers to sign up to the rewards program. There is a constant reminder by managers to literally manipulate customers into signing up which made me hate working register. The hours were pretty bad too, around 10 hours a week and new employees always did closing. But sometimes we got treats and I liked that.

Great pay/benefits

I enjoyed my time here! Great people and great work experience. The culture of the workplace is one of the reasons why I liked going into work most of the time

Poor managment

management is poor. very inconsistent with methods of running the store. store and expectations are uncollaborative and will cause stress. poor hours when no money is being made and favouritism is selective

Rude staff

Worked seasonal, didn't have a great experience. No training is given and the current staff was quite rude and dismissive. Felt lost most of the time.

Great company with a heart doing more than just selling clothes I learned a lot with Gap, they truly develop leaders to drive business to experiment and grow

Okay job, nothing amazing

Honestly, I would have liked it, but the management is trash. They were always watching us and everything we did. It made us feel so pressured, plus, they even talked ish behind our backs with other managers. They'd ask the associates about their personal life and trick them into telling them. They even played favorites. We all know this because they'll take people there not close to and tell them how they need to do better but would not do the same for the associates that kissed up to them. Also, they would cut shifts out of nowhere with no explanation but would get mad when someone forgets to call in sick.

Yorkdale Gap

I’ve been working here for 2 years now. Good employees, the managers are just really bad, they have favouritism. Overall, its a good company, you just have to be yourself, but this location is all about competition. Would not recommend.

Great co-workers but management needs work

Great co-workers but also sometimes people don't get along. Can't really move up in the company unless they acknowledge you or consider you as a full timer which is difficult to become. Management isn't the best as every August/September there's always new changes to the team. Overall as part timers its not that bad.

Enjoyable environment

Usually, at work, it's a "learn as you go" situation every day. Some are nice to help you understand the policies and procedures at work, but there is a majority that will not help you or teach you. Sometimes it was difficult to work around schedule due to school. I was forced to miss classes as management would not respect my studies.

Great company and great people

I worked with this company for a combined total of 5-6 years now. Gap Inc takes good care of their employees; they also have a great work culture. You meet and make friends, it's almost like a family where we help each other out so the store succeeds and everyone meets their daily goals. I learned a lot about almost everything to do with retail with this company, and they're not shy about making sure you feel confident in learning the ropes.

Fun Workplace

Management at the time was great. Fun, flexible and worked according to your schedule. It all depends who you work with, and if they can make the workplace fun.

Clothing organized and on racks

I really enjoy organizing and setting up clothes on racks or on show tables, I learned to organize them with the flow of customers coming into the store. The challenge is some customers were hard to understand because of their accent.

It was good

Everyone was nice and helpful. They really put me to work. I really enjoyed it and would work there again. All the workers are friendly and nice. I'd be happy to work there again.

Be prepared to get no shifts!!!!!!!!!!

I was relocated during the holiday season so hours we good, almost too good. They were long stressful and they would extend them without informing you and wouldn't let you go until your section was clean.They didn't hire people to work in the morning (unless it was shipment, which usually got cancelled...) so the store had to be nearly perfect for the next day which I find to be so pointless because that is the point of hiring us, to get more hours when things are incomplete to do the next day, to clean up before the store opens. Anyways, be prepared to have your shifts cut or cancelled do to over staff or some lame excuse they keep saying. Be prepared to not be scheduled at all once the holiday season is over. That's why I'm looking for a second job right now because I have a life and unfortunately it's not cheap, and I can't keep spending it at home doing absolutely NOTHING and wondering if my shift would be cancelled or not. I don't understand why management gives out unfair shifts when you're the one with more availability, doing the hardest work but getting the most turned over? It gets really discouraging and just makes you want to quit. Would only recommend working here for seasonal just because that is the only time they would want to give you ANY consistent hours. DO NOT WORK HERE FOR A FULL TIME/ PART TIME JOB! You will just end up leaving based on lack of hours because they keep hiring people...

Everyone there is stuck up and kinda stick to people and things that they know. Management doesn't care about you and just seems to want to get as much out of you during your time there

The best part about working there was meeting new everyday while working and also receiving positive comments from the customer after you helped them.

The people who you work with count the most because they make your shift end faster, other than that it is a very welcoming place to work. Learned many skills such as attention to detail and ways to talk to the public. The hardest part of the job is staying on your feet for a long period of time, but Gap makes sure that you take your breaks and gives you breaks if needed.

Great working environment with co-workers

Everyone at the Gap is very friendly and caring, we all respect each other and enjoy working together as a team. We all continue to work hard to help make the companies goal everyday. Although, I wish we got some sort of benefits with all the hard work we give in.
