Great place to have your first job
Freshco is a great place for you to get your feet wet in the work force. I could not see it being a option to be your main source of lively hood as they generally only pay minimum wage and it is very difficult to get full time status a decent salary.
Weird work environment
it is okay for a first job. Some of the workers are nice. It is confusing and hard at first. Youll have to learn everything by yourself basically. Don't expect to get that much training either. They're very unorganized.
This is a good part time job for a student.
I overall enjoyed working at Freshco because of the people I worked with were like family. Although I wasn’t get enough hours or paid enough. They were not paying me enough to do file maintenance which is a job that is very Tedious . Shifts were usually 5-6 hours long
Poor Management
FreshCo struggles a lot with poor management. Management did not listen to its employees aside from supervisors and struggled to maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for customers and employees alike.
Welcoming Workplace
Staff members are very welcoming and friendly. The workload is different each day some are very busy while others can be very slow-paced. They are very flexible when it comes to finding hours that suit your schedule best.

FreshCo is a quite good store with a nice work experience as a cashier in this food industry.
As a part time cashier, i worked four and sometimes five days per week. Work hours were both in day and night shifts.Work environment was fast paced and productive.
Enjoy the customer interaction
Punch in and begin shift. Break room is too far so you lose time getting to and from break. Management is nice.Hardest part of the job is understanding all the different cultures that shop at store.
very rough time for me .
I dealt with many challenges and always kept my head up . Struggled with supervisor . I wasn't treated well and always was over whelmed coming into work . Learned how to address other employees while keeping a civil relationship with them.
Overall good for student
Easily able to get days off and accommodated students well. The environment was safe and could ask colleagues to switch shifts if needed. The cash manager was very kind.
Awful Place to work!!!
If you dont mind being accused or Harassed by your front end manager. I worked for FreshCo back in 2013 and i was accused by my front end mnanager that i wreaked of cat urine and was told to practice better hygiene. She had the audacity to do this while the store was open and customers were around. Very unproffesional!! Told my store manager about the situation and quit my job. Was very sad to see me leave. But also understood and had a talk with my front end manager about her actions. Thankfully I had a fulltime job lined up.
its ok for starting in the work place
Its a good work experience as a cashier in the food industry. Sometimes its a fast pace environment. You learn how to deal with customers. You also get to know all types of produce that you never heard of. The staff are friendly.
Awful
Customers are very rude in east end area and lots of stealing. Most of the managers do not care and break union laws. If you go to the store owner he does little to nothing about it. Cannot even describe the unprofessionalism some of the managers have. The hardest part of the job is having to bite your tongue when it comes to customers/managers being disrespectful. The only enjoyable part of the job is a couple good coworkers.

Treated customers fairly and had excellent relationship with both management and customers. I treated my work colleagues with respect and i was treated in the same manner by them.
The store at the Newmarket location is closing down and that is why I am looking for a similar part time cashier job at Walmart or Superstore in Newmarket. I worked at the Freshco Newmarket location for 9 years.

Not fun
Awful, management is terrible I would never recommend anyone to work there because of how bad the management is. The job isn't too bad but the management makes it so you don't want to work there.

The owner was ok .
You need to be open to people a mental illness and disability. I have a mental illness and i find they where not caring or supportive. It is not people fault that they have a mental illness or disability

Fresh Co is a newly rebuild store. For learner it's a good store for learning, managing and leading. So far all sounds good but union fees should be erasable in future.
Very easy job
I worked here for just under a year and it was a very easy job, although very boring not my favourite thing to do is stand in one spot for five hours at a time can get boring at times the supervisors and managers are very nice people and very lenient when it comes to certain things.
