Favoritism, no schedule, extremely poor communiction
operator (Employé actuel) –  Acheson, AB7 janvier 2020
The job is not bad, but you will deal with no schedule, sometimes you will sit at home for 3-6 weeks with NO feedback from anyone in the office.

The "dispatcher" schedules the "favorites" first every time. So some people will do back to back hitches while others sit at home.YES IT IS THAT BAD!

Most of the field operators have never worked in the oilfield and it shows! As training is non existent, Fracshack continuously has to deal with incidents or near misses.

The irony is that most incidents and issues between client OSRs and Fracshack Operators are committed by the same people over and over , who end up getting promoted!! While people with zero incidents have to wait weeks to get work and not even get the courtesy of receiving an email with updates on the work available.

The favoritism is beyond disgusting!

Before Applying For a Shop Position You Should Read This.
Shop Assistant (Ancien employé) –  Acheson, AB27 juin 2019
Management is terrible. The higher ups get deals and promotions whenever asked. The employees that actually do the work are constantly worked into the dirt and are expected to meet unrealistic deadlines.

Hourly position? Don't expect any overtime, pay raises or year end bonuses.

If you enjoy HSE rules applied to "certain" staff members you'll enjoy working here.

Completing a large and time consuming task? Don't expect any help from other staff. Don't expect any time between large tasks either.

The Best thing this company has to offer is the little more then minimum pay rate.

The one thing I want you to take away from this review is that managements mindset is; You're lucky to work for FracShack.

Worst Job And Worst Management
Shop Assistant (Ancien employé) –  Acheson, AB11 octobre 2018
Probably the worst place to work for, they promise you things you'll never see.. like promotion and pay raise! For a million dollar company they're cheap on pay and tools.. they treat you with no respect and basically you're lucky to work there..
oh and if you like to work with immature people, its your place to be! Oh and safety well its not there either, the shop is cluttered and if you ask for something you won't see it until someone gets hurt..
Lots of favouritism, and poor pay! You get in trouble if don't put OT, same things every day nothing will chance until the management gets changed.. 5 interviews and no show, tells you something about a company!

3 strike rule isn't a thing here

One big company, 2 sides to it, fleet and shop! If you work in the shop you dare not to help fleet in unsafe work area because were not the same company..
Points positifs
All you can have smoke breaks
Points négatifs
Low pay for the work you do and management is just terrible

Good job, good company, work a lot
Operator (Employé actuel) –  Edmonton, AB28 juillet 2018
Frac Shack is a good company overall. This job requires you to be away from home a lot, and they are very open about the fact that you will work and be away from home a lot. Luckily you’re paid hourly — so the more you work the more you make.
Very safe work environment for the oilfield. Good crew of field operators. Not overly physical work for the most part but you do have to be physically capable to work hard for 6 hours straight somedays. If you’re a fairly smart person you’ll do well. Common sense is the biggest quality a person needs to do this job.
Points positifs
Overtime pay, benefits, per diem for food if in hotels, camp work, company provided truck and fuel card, they cover the costs for all training and PPE
Points négatifs
no schedule, poor communication from chain of command

Great money, not so great job.
Operator (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton29 mai 2018
The job is usually fairly easy going and you get paid well to do so. I also hear that they have fairly decent benefits but one wouldn't actually know this because you never get the time off to use them. They will promise and promise a schedule, but unfortunately because of the less than perfect work environment you're given it will never happen due to the very high turnaround rates. Favoritism is a huge problem here, you won't get your raises or level up unless you are one of the favorites.
If you don't mind never being home, never knowing how long you'll be out for work or how long you will be home when you do get to go home then this is the company for you!
All in all, I wouldn't say it's a terrible job. The job itself is not bad at all; it's the lack of schedule, horrible office politics and cheapness of the company that is the issue.

Good company to work for
Operato (Employé actuel) –  Edmonton, AB24 mars 2018
I have worked here for 4 years and although they have challenges i see improvents to make things better all the time. People are the number one priority and i feel they actual do care not and not just giving lip service. The money is good the schedule is getting better and the conditions are typical oil field conditions.
All in all a very good company and would recommend it to anyone that can handle the oilfield life style.
Points positifs
Caring company and great money
Points négatifs
Away from home a lot

I enjoyed the travel and staying at camp/hotels and not to lie...the pay
Frac Operator (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton, AB24 mai 2013
I worked for Frac Shack International from Nov 2012 to April 2013 and was laid off due to lack of work for the company. I am qualified for this job with my certificates that THEY helped me to obtain. I enjoyed working out in western Canada and I enjoyed learning something new when the opportunity arose. I didn't consider any part of the job as being hard. I enjoy physical work when required to do so and being out in the cold weather of northern Alberta and B.C. was one of the things I liked the most along with the job.
Points positifs
long hours and great pay
Points négatifs
no cons!
